A huge thank you to Portage Fire Chief Crail for taking the time to educate attendees on how to properly use AED devices, and to Samantha Aguilar for her important presentation on administering Narcan and responding to overdose emergencies.

We also want to give a big thank you to Bam Pizza for generously providing pizza for everyone in attendance!

It was especially great to see so many kids engaged, asking questions, and learning valuable life-saving skills from both speakers.

Today’s monthly meeting for Hub Coalition Porter County was a tremendous reminder of what can happen when passionate people come together to strengthen mental health and prevention efforts in our community.

We were honored to welcome special guest Judge Chris Buckley, who spoke about the important role the courts play in helping individuals struggling with mental health challenges and addiction find support, accountability, and a path forward.

We also heard from Carrie Honeycutt on behalf of the Su***de Prevention Task Force, sharing exciting new initiatives focused on awareness, prevention, and community engagement.

To top it all off, we were excited to welcome several new members to today’s meeting, including Jackie Haney and Subbayamma Nagubadi. We are grateful to have more voices and perspectives joining this important work.

It was truly a great day of collaboration, connection, and commitment to improving mental health and prevention efforts throughout Porter County. Thank you to everyone who attended and continues to support this mission.

Today’s Coffee with a Cop event was a huge success! A big thank you to the Portage Police Department for showing up with a large group of officers today. ☕🚔

We had a great turnout from community members who came out to meet and interact with local law enforcement in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Events like this help build stronger relationships, encourage open conversation, and remind us how important community partnerships truly are.

One of the highlights of the day was Chuck getting the chance to spend time with the police dogs — and they definitely stole the show! 🐕‍🦺

Thank you to everyone who attended, our law enforcement agencies for participating, Starbucks for hosting and providing free coffee, and all those who helped make this event possible. The Hub Coalition Porter County is proud to support opportunities that bring our community together.

We look forward to the next one.

Join us for Coffee with a Cop in Portage! ☕👮‍♂️

This is a great opportunity for community members to sit down, have a conversation, and build relationships with our local law enforcement in a relaxed, informal setting.

The HUB Coalition is proud to sponsor this event because we believe strong communities are built through connection, trust, and open dialogue between residents and those who serve them.

Stop by, ask questions, share your thoughts—or just enjoy a cup of coffee and good conversation.

Coffee is free! We hope to see you there.
