Big congratulations to our 2025–2026 Pines Village scholarship recipients! 🎓 This year, we awarded $26,850 to seven outstanding student employees through the Margaret M. Rivers and Anne Lauterbach scholarship funds. 🎉 These scholarships support their dreams—from nursing and social work to political science and biomedical sciences.

We were especially honored to have Midge Rivers, our very first Administrator and namesake of the Margaret M. Rivers Scholarship, join us for the celebration.

Since 1996, thanks to the generosity of our residents, their families, our Board, and staff, over $400,000 in scholarships has been awarded to Pines Village employees.

We’re also proud to celebrate our 2025 high school and college grads—you continue to inspire us! 💙 Thank you to our residents, families, Board, and staff for making this support possible. 🌟

Part of the Collaborative Exhibition Series: Vin & Hazel Hannell: Creativity, Community, Conservation 🎨 Happening TODAY – Thursday, July 24 at 5 PM ✨Join our friends at Chesterton Art Center for a historical presentation by Serena Ard, Museum Curator at the Westchester Township History Museum.

Serena will share the inspiring story of Vin and Hazel Hannell, highlighting their role in founding the Association of Artists and Craftsmen of Porter County (now CAC), and their enduring legacy through the Chesterton Art Fair and regional arts community.

We’re proud to partner with CAC on this Collaborative Exhibition Series—celebrating creativity, community, and the people who help shape it.

Looking for something to do this Friday? 🎨
Chesterton Art Center's newest exhibit “Right Here” celebrates Vin and Hazel Hannell, artists and activists, whose work explores the natural wonders of our Indiana Dunes region. The home and studio they kept in Furnessville was a nexus for a thriving creative community throughout the 1940’s and 1950’s, and that legacy endures to this day.

The exhibition pairs the Hannells’ paintings, prints, sculptures, and ceramics with work by contemporary regional artists who continue to be inspired by the dunes and the work being done to protect and conserve this precious landscape. It is a full-circle moment to place the Hannells’ works in conversation with artists who continue to benefit from their vision and their perseverance.

Many of the activities at Pines Village are resident-led, so if there’s something you love, chances are others here will love it too, and we’ll help make it happen. ✨

🎉 Celebrating 60 Years of the Older Americans Act 🎉
2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the Older Americans Act, a landmark piece of legislation that forever changed the way our country supports older adults. Signed into law in 1965, the OAA laid the foundation for critical services like meals, caregiver support, transportation, senior centers, and programs that promote health, independence, and dignity.

At Pines Village, we see the impact of this act every day. From creating more opportunities for connection to ensuring access to essential resources, the OAA has helped shape a stronger, more supportive environment for older adults across the nation.

We’re proud to honor this milestone and reaffirm our commitment to the values it represents: respect, care, and community for every older American. 🇺🇸
