✨ Affirmation Sunday

“I am calm, capable, and ready to meet my baby.”

When you slow your breath and ground yourself in the moment, your body releases tension — and opens to the rhythm of birth.
Every breath is a reminder: you are strong, your baby is safe, and you are doing this together. 💛

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we practice affirmations and breathing techniques that help you stay centered and confident — no matter where or how you birth.

✨ Step into your birth with peace and confidence:

🌼 Share Your Story Saturday:

Every birth journey begins long before labor starts. Maybe you’re planning your first birth, reflecting on a previous experience, or imagining what it will feel like to hold your baby for the first time. 💛

What are you most excited about as you prepare for your baby’s arrival?
What are you curious or nervous about?

Sharing our stories reminds us that we’re not alone — we’re part of a beautiful community of parents learning and growing together.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we create space for real conversations like these — where you can ask questions, share feelings, and gain the confidence you deserve.

🌸 Fun Fact Friday:

Movement during labor helps your baby find their way.

Walking, swaying, rocking on a birth ball, or even changing positions in bed can all help your baby move into the optimal position for birth.

Movement encourages your pelvis to open and gives your baby the space to rotate and descend — often making labor more efficient and comfortable.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, I teach practical movement techniques you can use anywhere — at home, in the hospital, or in a birth center — so you can labor like a pro. 💪

🤍 Birth Partner Thursday:

Your presence matters more than you think.

During labor, your partner doesn’t need to “fix” anything — their steady presence, calm voice, and gentle touch are powerful tools of support.

Here’s what helps most:
🫶 Gentle back pressure or massage
💬 Encouraging words like “You’re doing it” or “I’m right here”
💧 Offering sips of water or a cool cloth
🌬 Breathing together through contractions

In my Comfort Measures Class, we teach partners how to stay confident, calm, and connected — so both of you feel supported through every wave of labor.

🌼 Wisdom Wednesday:

Your body and baby work together during labor.

Labor isn’t something that happens to you — it’s something your body and your baby do together. Each contraction brings your baby closer, helping them rotate, descend, and find the perfect position for birth.

When you understand what’s happening inside, you can work with your body instead of against it — using breath, movement, and gravity to support progress.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we explore how to trust this process, listen to your instincts, and feel confident every step of the way. 💛

💫 Tip Tuesday:

Create your calm labor space — wherever you birth.

Lighting, scent, and sound all influence how relaxed you feel during labor. Whether you’re birthing at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, you can make your space feel like you.

🕯 Dim the lights
🎶 Play calming music
🌸 Bring a familiar scent or essential oil
💬 Ask your support team to speak softly

In my Comfort Measures & Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, you’ll learn how to turn your birth space into a calm, safe, oxytocin-filled environment that supports your natural rhythm and comfort.

🌿 Myth-Buster Monday:

“You should go to the hospital as soon as contractions start.” 🚗💨

Not necessarily!
For most first-time parents, early labor can last for hours — sometimes even a day or two. Rushing to the hospital too soon can actually slow things down or make you feel pressured before active labor really begins.

In my Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes, we talk about how to recognize the difference between early labor and active labor, what to do at home to stay comfortable, and when it’s the right time to go in. Knowledge and timing make all the difference!

💛 Learn what to expect and how to stay calm and confident as labor unfolds.

Well... Indigo Doula Services went 3 for 3 today with our third baby since Wednesday! Another special family got to welcome their beautiful baby on this sunny Saturday. ❤️ Sometimes at 3 a.m. I question my life choices, but with the help of the amazing staff we've built relationships with over the years we found a spot to nap for a little while and found new energy to go on and support our people. They didn't have to do this, since doulas are not staff, but they go above and beyond every day to not only support our clients choices but also their birth team. I couldn't be more grateful! ❤️

🤍 Practice Makes Peaceful Births 🤍

One of the best ways to prepare for labor is to practice your comfort measures together before the big day. 🌿

Set aside a little time each week to:
💆‍♀️ Try different massage or pressure techniques
🧘‍♀️ Practice breathing and movement as a team
🕯️ Create your “birth environment” — dim lights, calming music, and scents that make you feel safe
💬 Talk about what feels good and what doesn’t — communication builds confidence

Every birth is unique, but comfort and connection always make a difference. 💛

💡 Fun Fact Friday! 💡

Did you know that when you feel safe, loved, and supported during labor, your body releases more oxytocin — the same hormone responsible for love, bonding, and contractions? 💛

That means comfort and connection aren’t just “nice to have” — they’re actually part of what helps labor progress smoothly! 🌿

In my Comfort Measures for Labor Class, we talk about how to create a calm, loving environment that boosts your body’s natural hormones and helps you work with labor instead of against it.

🕯️ Less stress. More oxytocin. More flow.

About Sabine Hankiewicz CD(DONA)

My name is Sabine Hankiewicz. I was born in Austria, Europe. I am a mother of two (raised three) and always loved anything that had to do with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and breastfeeding. After moving to North America, I decided to make my dream a reality and became a doula. I have a passion for evidence based birth and and I believe that every birthing person deserves to be treated like the queen that she is.
