We celebrated Nurses week (May 6th - May 12th) the only way we knew how - by spoiling our nurses! They received cards, cakes, snacks, and free food all week! Our nurses have gone above and beyond for all of our residents, and even for us employees here at Avalon Springs! They truly are the glue that holds us together. Our therapy team goes above and beyond to take care of our residents! This recent Wednesday, we had Drum Fit with Elaine! She led the group with a video to beat their drums to the rhythm! The force of the yoga ball helps build muscle, while the drumming action itself can be a good outlet for stress! Our residents have been loving it!! 🥁🪘

What would we do without our comfort dogs?! They do much more than people may think - science proves that! Did you know that petting a dog releases a surge of oxytocon - leaving both person and dog in a positive emotional state? What a neat fact! We are eternally grateful for our comfort dog volunteers. Our residents showed this appreciation by making them spring gratitude collages. Thank you, Caleb and Baylee (and handlers)! You've made such a big difference in our community! 🐕‍🦺💞

We mentioned in our last post that we had painted pots in preparation for a Master Gardener's Class! Well, Nikky from Purdue was kind enough to volunteer her time with us! We missed some good photo opportunities, but can you blame us? 📷 We were too busy having a blast! What better way to enjoy spring than to propogate seeds? The residents had a choice between Zenia's, Marigolds, or Thanksgiving Cacti! 🌻🌵 Some chose one, and some even chose to strategically plant multiple types in one pot!
