LPA Counseling

Provides Couples, Family, Individual, Substance Abuse, and Group Counseling in Valparaiso and Michigan City, Indiana.

We work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. Many of our therapists see their school age clients in the school when one of the primary therapeutic concerns is school performance/adjustment. Although we have multple offices in Valparasio, Michigan City ,and Merrillville, our therapists are willing to see families at their homes or facilities they might be living in when transportation is a barrier to therapy. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of our clients' individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for.

Mission: We respond personally and immediately to families, couples, and individuals seeking counseling services; providing excellent, confidential, and affordable therapy, when and where our clients need us, throughout Northwest Indiana.

THERAPIST SPOTLIGHT! 🤩

The December spotlight is Cassandra Kormendy

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?

"I knew I wanted to become a therapist from a very young age because of personal struggles. However, in college I did not have a sense of direction or where to start in my future career. I was encouraged by a wonderful adviser that is now my friend to take a social work 101 course. That was the beginning of my journey into the social work field and eventually finding my way into becoming a therapist. I think I am naturally good at guiding others throughout their life journey. I am a firm believer that we all could use guidance in finding our true north."

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO JOIN THE LPA TEAM?

"I knew that I wanted to be a part of a family like counseling center. I enjoy working in Valparaiso and Michigan City because I too am from the region. I love working where I live and being able to relate with my clients. I appreciate the loving and open atmosphere that LPA provides to not only my clients but to the staff."

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A THERAPIST?

"I love building new relationships with people and learning from them as much as they are learning from me. I truly enjoy being the person that people go to for guidance. The moment someone graduates from therapy is one of my favorite human interactions. I love watching people grow as an individual and within their families. I believe that everyone has a calling in life, and I feel mine is and will always be therapy."

FILL IN THE BLANK. WHEN I’M NOT WORKING, YOU’LL MOST LIKELY FIND ME….

"Playing video games and board games with my children. I am really enjoying reading novels and audio books. I am really big on collecting comics and I am a huge batman fan."
