Today is a day I want to share something I feel is important and valuable to all of us, in my opinion.
Hi, I am Kristi Director of FirstCare Home Care, and I want to share my heart on a story that has been making headlines.
The news of a missing senior citizen is deeply concerning and heartbreaking. Every single person-child, adult, or senior matters. Each case represents a life, a family, and a community holding their breath and hoping for answers.
When a senior goes missing, it also shines a light on something we don't talk about enough: How vulnerable many older adults are, especially those who live alone, who experience cognitive decline or changes, or lack regular visits or check ins from family/friends.
This is not about minimizing the tragedy of anyone who goes missing, it's about driving more awareness and prevention. Seniors deserve the same level of vigilance, connection, patience, and protection as everyone else.
I would like to share some simple tips that can make a big difference:
* Regular check ins
* Knowing routines and changes (physically and mentally)
* Recognizing the need to be pro-active about support needs when memory, mobility, or health begins to decline.
Our mission has always been to help our "seasoned citizens" stay safe, supported, and connected right where they want to be -in the comfort of home. We work alongside families to provide care, oversight, and peace of mind so no one feels alone or overlooked.
If you have an aging parent, neighbor, loved one, friend or anyone you know please take a moment to check in. A phone call, a visit, or a plan for added support could truly make a difference.
If you need help, guidance, or support on how to start that conversation or to assist with the right amount of care needs to ensure we are being pro-active instead of re-active please reach out to me, I am happy to help.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families waiting for answers and closure on a challenging time in life.
Please feel free to share this post, education and awareness are key. Stay safe and aware.
