Just had acupuncture? Here’s how to support your healing process after your session.

Acupuncture continues working in your body even after you leave the treatment room, so giving yourself the right post-care can make a big difference. To help your body integrate the benefits, here’s what to avoid for the next 12–24 hours:

❌ Intense physical activity
Your nervous system is shifting from fight-or-flight into healing mode. Let it stay there. Gentle movement is fine - skip the HIIT or heavy lifting for now.

❌ Coffee or alcohol
These stimulants and depressants can interfere with your body’s natural reset. Water and herbal tea are your best choices to help flush toxins and support circulation.

❌ Ice packs
Acupuncture increases circulation and energy flow. Ice slows that process down. Opt for gentle warmth if needed.

❌ Saunas or hot baths
Overheating can cause fatigue or dizziness post-treatment. Your body needs time to regulate naturally.

❌ Massage or bodywork
Too many modalities at once can overwhelm your system. Give your body time to respond to one therapy before layering on another.

After your session, rest, hydrate, eat nourishing foods, and allow your body space to heal. The more you support the process, the more you’ll feel the results.

You’ve probably heard of acupuncture, but do you really know what it is and how much it can help?

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture is well known for relieving pain, but its benefits go far beyond that. It supports your entire system, helping with stress, digestion, sleep, hormone balance, and immune health.

By addressing the root cause of symptoms instead of just masking them, acupuncture can reduce your need for medications, prevent chronic issues from escalating, and ultimately lower your long-term healthcare costs.

It’s not just a wellness trend. It’s a proactive, cost-effective way to support your body for the long haul.

Most sensations pass quickly, and many people feel deeply relaxed afterward.

Your body was designed to heal. Acupuncture simply gives it the nudge it needs.

By stimulating specific points along the body, acupuncture activates your nervous system, boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, and helps restore balance from within.

It doesn’t override your system. It works with it. Gently. Naturally. Effectively.

Whether you’re managing stress, chronic pain, hormone imbalances, or simply want to feel better in your body, acupuncture is here to support your healing journey.

Because your body is wise. Sometimes it just needs a little reminder.

Let’s clear up a few common questions about acupuncture needles, because we know it can feel a little intimidating at first.

𝑫𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕?
Most people are surprised by how little they feel. Acupuncture needles are incredibly thin, about the width of a strand of hair. Some people describe it as a mosquito bite or tingling sensation, while many feel nothing at all.

𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅?
Never. We use 100% sterile, single-use needles that are safely disposed of after every treatment. Your safety is our priority.

𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎?
Acupuncture needles are made of surgical-grade stainless steel and are free from medication or coatings, making allergic reactions or sensitivities highly unlikely. There are some gold covered needles that are used in special circumstances, but only if there is no known gold allergy.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎?
Nothing. Acupuncture needles are solid (not hollow like medical needles) and contain no substances inside. They work by stimulating your body’s own natural healing response, not injecting anything into it.

Acupuncture is safe, clean, and far gentler than most people expect. If you’re curious but unsure, we’re happy to walk you through what to expect at your first visit. Just call or text our office today (813) 964-6283

Worried about too many needles? Let’s put your mind at ease.

Most people are surprised to learn that acupuncture doesn’t require dozens of needles to be effective — especially with specialized techniques like the Balance Method.

Dr. Stewart often uses fewer points with greater precision, meaning less stimulation but more targeted results.

This technique focuses on balancing the body through a mirrored system, often placing needles in areas away from the actual site of discomfort, which can lead to faster relief with fewer needles.

Many patients report feeling calm, relaxed, and even forget the needles are there at all.

So, if you're hesitant about acupuncture because you picture being covered head to toe, don’t worry -sometimes, less truly is more.

Stressed out and your blood pressure shows it? You’re not alone — and there’s support.

Many cases of elevated blood pressure are directly tied to chronic stress and a dysregulated nervous system. Acupuncture works by calming the stress response, improving circulation, and supporting the body’s ability to regulate itself naturally.

Here’s how it helps:
• Activates the parasympathetic (rest and digest) system
• Reduces stress hormones like cortisol
• Relaxes blood vessels and improves circulation
• Supports emotional well-being and better sleep
• Brings your body into a more balanced, healing state

Over time, regular acupuncture can become a powerful tool in managing stress-related high blood pressure — without relying solely on medications.

If your body is holding onto stress and it’s showing up in your numbers, it may be time to try a more holistic approach.
