Phoenix Award receiptiants!
Again we are recognizing outstanding service within our emergency medical team.
Paramedic Mike Morrow and his team responded to one of the most critical calls an EMS provider can face: a person in cardiac arrest. This means no pulse, no breathing—clinically, the person is clinically dead. However, thanks to the quick, skilled, and composed efforts of Mike and his fellow responders, that story didn’t end there.
Through effective CPR, timely defibrillation, medication administration, and advanced paramedic-level care, they were able to achieve something we call ROSC—Return of Spontaneous Circulation. In simpler terms, they restarted a heart and brought someone back to life.
Maine EMS awards what’s known as the Phoenix Award, named after the mythical bird that rises from the ashes. This award is given to paramedics and EMS crews who successfully bring a patient back from cardiac arrest with a successful return of a heartbeat and circulation.
Congratulations to Mike Morrow, Gloria Ouellette, Eddie Saucier and Peter Madore for their lifesaving efforts, for their professionalism, and for proving that in our small town, heroes walk among us.
