Job opportunity: Optometric Technician

The Vision Center is a small office with a positive, friendly atmosphere. We are in search of a nice person to join our team with the primary responsibility of pretesting patients before they see the doctor for an eye exam.

Primary tasks:
• Take patient ocular and medical history and record accurately in the patient record
• Perform initial testing and other testing ordered by the doctor, including auto-refraction, retinal imaging, OCT, and visual field testing
• Cleaning and performing regular maintenance on ophthalmic equipment
• Re-stocking supplies in exam room and pre-test room

Other tasks:
• Answer incoming phone calls
• Schedule patients
• Check in glasses and contact lens orders
• Dispense glasses and contact lenses to patients
• Submit claims to medical and vision insurance
• Light cleaning: Dusting, vacuuming, emptying garbage
• Communicate effectively with the doctor, patients, and co-workers

Necessary skills:
• Attention to detail
• Organization
• Top notch customer service
• Positive, welcoming attitude, make patients feel comfortable
• Reliability/Punctuality
• Ability to respond positively to constructive criticism
