For decades, the practice of therapy was stable and predictable. You went to graduate school, got licensed, grew your caseload, and earned a stable income.

That stability is now unraveling. Jobs that once seemed like safe bets at mental health companies are subject to mass layoffs and shifting pay structures.

Solo practitioners are also feeling the impact.

If therapists want to have a say in where the field is heading, we need to understand how financial forces are reshaping the way we do therapy.

How can your new perspective improve your life? And what is your mindset? Your mindset is either your greatest asset or your quietest enemy. It is how your mind is trained that sets the days ahead.

Here’s how I trained my mindset to improve my life and saved a lot of time:

1. Started the day with 3 wins already written down. You walk different when you expect to win.

2. Swapped “What if this goes wrong?” for “What if this changes everything?”
Same energy. Better outcome.

3. Unfollowed people who made me feel behind. Progress is easier when you’re not comparing it to someone else’s highlight reel.

4. Asked this every time something went sideways:
“What is this trying to teach me?”

5. Moved my body every day even just a walk. It doesn’t just clear your head. It resets your drive.

6. Stopped looking for motivation.
Built systems instead. Motivation is moody. Systems show up.

7. Took breaks before burnout forced them.
Rest is strategy. Not weakness.

You don’t need a perfect life to have a powerful mindset.

You just need to decide to have your thoughts work for you not against you.
