Let’s talk team holiday parties! What did you decide to do with your team this year?!
Why is taking time out during this time of year to gather and celebrate important to you? It’s important to me for the same reason we do team retreats, and have many opportunities for structured and unstructured time together. As a collaborative team at our core, we must truly know each other in a deep enough way to genuinely see and celebrate one another.
Some considerations for holiday parties:
🎄Consider each person - never assume that everyone on your team celebrates the same holiday
🕎 Be open to a different type of celebration each year - ask your team what would feel festive and fun for them!
🎁 Consider how you want your team to feel during and after the gathering - what environment and flow of the time together accomplishes that?
This year, my team at VWS voted for a party off-site in the evening, with an ugly sweater theme. As you can see, we did just that. I treated our group to a delicious meal, and allergy-friendly desserts that everyone at the table could enjoy…accompanied by gifts and hand-written cards. We also took time to share our monthly high 5’s (message me if you want to know how we do this!) with each other and I made sure to share my gratitude with our whole team (although I can’t do this without tearing up, it’s important to do it anyway). 🫶
One of the best decisions I’ve made in the past year is getting my own camera and lighting set up for headshots and team photos..which sure came in handy for our impromptu awkward team photoshoot 🙈📷
