✨ Life is never dull at The Springs at the Waterfront! ✨

At a special showing of Downton Abbey in our theater, one of the resident couples made the evening extra memorable by dressing up as a butler and lady of the manor. They greeted fellow residents at the door with a warm welcome (and a splash of brandy!) before everyone settled in to enjoy the film. To top it off, crumpets were served for the perfect touch of elegance. 🥂🍰🎬

🌊 Last weekend, residents from The Springs at the Waterfront set out on a wet and wild adventure with Willamette Jet Boat Excursions! We may have started dry, but the zany twists and turns soon had us laughing—and soaked! Along the way, we discovered fascinating stories about Portland’s iconic bridges, Swan Island shipyards, and the rich history that earned it the nickname “Bridge City.” 🌉✨

Last week, residents got to tour the gorgeous new space and meet the talented team of stylists. Revel Salon offers so much more than hair care — including Botox, fillers, extensions, and more.

Best of all, the salon is open to the greater Vancouver community, so everyone can enjoy this incredible new addition! 🌟

Residents recently enjoyed a beautiful outing to the Swan Island Dahlia Festival in Canby, OR! We were amazed by the incredible variety and vibrant colors on display. It was hard to choose a favorite among so many stunning blooms!

Celebrating Watermelon Day with a splash! 🍉 Our directors brought the fun with a festive watermelon cart, serving up fresh slices with a choice of toppings like Icelandic lava salt, Tajín, and whipped cream. Residents joined in the fun, dressing up and cooling off with refreshing watermelon and drinks. It was the perfect way to beat the heat and have some fun!

Our rooftop Labor Day party was a retro blast! We listened to classic 1950s hits by John Van Beek and enjoyed a feast of vintage favorites: crescent dogs, shrimp cocktail, cheese balls, Jell-O salad, and sweet pineapple-glazed angel food cake. The perfect weather made the celebration even more special..

What a month! August at The Springs at the Waterfront was packed with enriching events and activities.
We sipped on delicious wines from Valo Cellars at a tasting in our 4 Peaks Wine Bar and enjoyed beautiful music from King Louis, Renato Caranto, Barbara Myers, Flamenco Espacio, and Chad Wilson at our rooftop concerts. Residents also showed off their vocal talents at our monthly karaoke night and even opened their doors to neighbors for special apartment tours.
Our theater hosted some fascinating presentations, including one from Roy Hemmingway of the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, a captivating talk by Lt. Col. Kari Armstrong about her Air Force career, and a historical overview from Alisha Hamel of the Lewis and Clark Trail Alliance.
Creativity was in full swing in our Ink Spot art studio, where residents painted to music and crafted intricate 3D greeting cards. We also had a blast at our family-friendly Western party in Footsteps, where residents and staff dressed up in their best Western gear. We were also honored to host a benefit show with magician Hart Keene and comedian Grace Ishida to support the upcoming Alzheimer's Association Support Walk.
Thank you to everyone who made August so memorable! We can't wait to see what September brings.

🦆 Cotton candy, live music… and a duck who can dance? Sign us up.

The Springs at Greer Gardens’ Farmers Market was already packed with fresh produce, handmade goods, and live music, but then Puddles, the University of Oregon’s beloved mascot, dropped by to take things to a whole new level! From dancing with residents and sampling cotton candy to busting a move to the band, Puddles brought pure joy and laughter to an already beautiful day.

Events like these are what community is all about: connection, laughter, and maybe even a duck who knows how to work the dance floor.

Today, veterans who live in a few of our communities in Oregon took to the skies, including WWII U.S. Navy veteran Dean Clark, who marked his 100th birthday a little early with an unforgettable adventure. Thanks to Dream Flights, The Springs at Happy Valley resident soared high above McMinnville, Oregon, in a Boeing Stearman biplane, just like those used for training during World War II.

A dozen veterans came from our communities in Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Sherwood, and Salem to also enjoy the hot summer day from high above Yamhill County. There were many smiles and shared stories as family, friends, and staff cheered them all on.

Last week, The Springs at Sunnyview celebrated its 25th anniversary with residents and some local community members. The community was the second built by The Springs Living, and the company's first independent living building.

Mary Chance, a current resident of The Springs at Lancaster Village, cut the ribbon 25 years ago as the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce ambassador. She was invited to cut the ribbon again, along with Senior Executive Director Cari Buchholz, who opened The Springs at Sunnyview 25 years ago as assistant administrator.

"I don't feel like I come to work every day, I feel like I come home every day, and it's felt like that for 25 years," Cari said. "This community is family and you can feel it when you walk in the doors. We will continue to do the right thing and fulfill our promise every day."

In addition to the ribbon cutting, the event featured live music and delicious food. Residents and staff also took turns at the microphones to reflect on their experiences at Sunnyview.

One resident, Donna, said, "I've been here for 8 years and there's nowhere I'd rather be."

Thank you to this small but mighty team that makes a difference in residents' lives over the past 25 years and today! Congratulations, Sunnyview!

His provocative insights focused on disrupting the future of senior living, including emerging societal trends that will impact our profession. Attendees left with a renewed sense of excitement as we continue to strive to fulfill our mission to change the way people think, feel, and experience senior living.

Kindness is contagious. 🌟

Meet Mariel from The Springs at Whitefish. What started with eight skeins of yarn and a big heart has grown into The Knit Wits, a group that knits, crochets, and gives back to the Whitefish community.

“We started with just eight skeins of yarn in a cardboard box. Today, we’ve donated over $14,000 to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to help provide safe, loving homes for children in need.”

Thanks to the generosity of their community, The Knit Wits received over $700 in donated yarn just this last June, proof that kindness spreads quickly.

Hands busy, hearts full, and lives changed—this is what it means to live life to its fullest. 💛

The Springs at Carman Oaks brought the energy to their community Prom with a performance that had everyone smiling!

These amazing residents from the Balance and Dance class spent weeks rehearsing, and their hard work paid off, especially during this classic: the Electric Slide!
