Hot flashes are common in midlife. That does not make them random.
Estrogen plays an important role in regulating the brain’s temperature center. As levels fluctuate during perimenopause and menopause, the body’s temperature regulation window narrows. Small internal shifts can suddenly feel intense.
This pattern is called vasomotor instability.
