It has been an exciting transition from "lawn" to habitat--and we are certainly not finished with our plans to add more native plants. But we are loving the rewards of more flora and fauna gracing our yard!

I've shared with patients for years my concerns about long-term effects of alcohol sugars. Research is now linking them to increased risk for blood clots. Please avoid these artificial sweeteners (xylitol, erythritol, etc). Read packages carefully as these sweeteners are frequently added to stevia and monk fruit products. Fruit is best to satisfy a sweet tooth. Honey and maple syrup can be used in moderation.

Love that an "age-old" natural treatment helps reduce Covid intensity, too!! If you start noting symptoms of a cold, sore throat, or other upper respiratory infection, please start gargling with salt water and contact me or other healthcare provider!

Gargling and nasal rinsing were associated with a significant reduction in the hospitalization rate for people with COVID; if confirmed, the finding could be helpful in low-resource settings, says researcher.
