Washington Hearing Society

Washington Hearing Society Find a Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist in your area, or if you are interested in becoming one. John Holm was his successor.

In 1959, an excess of fifty hearing aid specialists gathered in Wenatchee and formed the group which became known as the Hearing Aid Dealers of Washington (HADOW). Articles of Incorporation were drawn up, officers were elected, and committees were appointed. Howard Doran was elected the first president of HADOW and served in that capacity for two terms, 1959 through 1961. At that first meeting, the members of the newly formed organization went on record to formally oppose unfair, restrictive legislation. HADOW held that position until 1970 when its members voted to seek legislation of its own. The name was changed over the years to become the Washington Hearing Society. The organization’s main focus continues to be to protect the licenses of all Hearing Aid Fitter/Dispensers in Washington State by having a lobbyist in Olympia. Equally important is our aim to provide quality education to professionals in the hearing healthcare industry to stay in the forefront of the fast paced changes of technology in our field.

Attention Employers:

Employers Enjoy Streamlined Payments Within HELMS: Use Your Payment Pin for Instant Processing.

Healthcare Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMS) Payment PIN

The Washington State Department of Health (department) is excited to introduce a new feature offered within the new Healthcare Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMS) called the “Payment PIN”.

How it works:

The employer will create a HELMS portal account or log into an existing account to create the payment pin.

While working with the licensee you will provide them with this pin.

The licensee will use this PIN within the payment section within HELMS.

Note: The department does not manage employer PINS. These are entirely self-managed by the employer, who can generate a PIN at any time, or de-activate a current PIN.

Employer Notification:

Once the licensee uses the PIN within HELMS, the employer will be notified instantly via email that payment is due.

Employers will have 14 days to make the payment.

Benefits:

Eliminates the need to contact the call center or wait for communication from the licensee related to payments. The payment pin Is INSTANT!

Removes delays in processing payments.
Employers have control over the payment process for the licensee.

Optimizes customer transactions making them faster, more secure, and user friendly.

Beware! The Washington State Department of Health’s Office of Health Professions (OHP) has become aware of ongoing scams targeting licensed health professionals. These scams involve fraudulent communications that appear to come from OHP staff, often using names of real employees and e-mail addresses that closely resemble official DOH e-mail addresses.
