New Athlete

New Athlete New Athlete Physical Therapy is dedicated to the restoration of total human health and performance t Our secret is simple.

The cornerstone of New Athlete is our ability to help the incomplete athlete and make them whole. Our approach is to not only restore, but more often than not, have our athletes come out more fit, better balanced, and better prepared for competition than prior to their struggles with pain and lack of performance. We do not focus on the end of the issue rather we attack the route cause of the movement issues.

Knowing what you’re talking about and articulating it are two totally different things, and I’m always fearful of not explaining things in a way that people can understand. Hopefully what I’m attempting to communicate in this video makes sense and people can understand why we prescribe so many reps or programs so many reps and sets for our athletes in addition to our thought process with for absorption versus production.

Force absorption or force attenuation is in my mind the first skill an athlete should learn after position pertaining to movement. The more force an individual can absorb the more force the athlete will produce. It’s a backwards way of looking at it. In most training, regimens, or strength and conditioning approaches, force production becomes the primary driver for training, and it works to a certain extent. Once we begin to adopt the idea of absorbing more force, we saw a massive jump in force productions and force outputs. 24 years with this approach.

Research is showing the ability to produce higher braking forces thus the reasoning for such a high volume of “ALTITUDES” and why we are so set on that being part of our reasoning to increase an athlete’s capacity.

Spinal engine is a hot topic of late but we’ve been on this for years. In fact if you have ever been in with over the years you have heard any thing from coil (Weck) to bows and corner (GOATA) and anything in between. Regardless of the rabbit holes we have gone down it remains the same that loading over the foot and having a fluid spine is a baseline to elite movement finished correctly.
