Today we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in one of the darkest days in American history. We hold close the families who still carry that grief and honor the brave first responders who gave everything in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also recognize the death care professionals whose stories are often left untold. The funeral directors, embalmers, morgue staff, and others who worked quietly in the background. They stood in the shadows of heartbreak, offering dignity to the dead and comfort to the living. Their service was as heroic as it was human.

In the face of devastation, the world witnessed strength, unity, and compassion rise from the ashes.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
