Spring is almost here, but our pantry is still well stocked from last year's harvest. It's always good to have extra canned goods and supplies in case of emergency and the current coronavirus outbreak is a good reminder to make sure you have emergency supplies for your family ❀

I love sprouting mung beans, especially in the winter ❀ They are easy to sprout at home in just a few days and a cheap way to add extra nutrients to your diet! Sprouts are a great way to add fiber, protein, iron, B vitamins and other important vitamins and minerals to your diet. Yummy, easy and healthy - that's my kind of snack!

It may not look like much now, but our first Cosmic Crisp apple tree is in and we have high hopes for this little guy! Our 2020 fruit trees arrived this week and today was a beautiful day for planting. We are adding 4 Rainier cherries, 1 Lapins cherry and 1 Cosmic Crisp apple which brings our fruit tree total to almost 70 producing fruit trees ❀

I guess I'm official! Last night at the annual Master Composter Recycler Volunteer Banquet I received my official name tag and rain coat! I earned these by volunteering at local festivals, attending group events and helping to build a cobb bench which beautified a multi-use public space. In my year with this program I've learned so much about sustainability and I look forward to all the fun events...with great people...that 2020 has in store ❀

My new favorite lunch is here! I enjoy snacking during the day and rarely eat a full lunch, so taking this fruit and veggie based box to work has been perfect. I also enjoy gluten free sweet potato crackers with the celery, carrots, tomatoes, cheese curds, grapes and hard boiled egg. What's your favorite lunch go-to??

I successfully ripened green tomatoes! Now, I'm so excited about this because until recently I didn't know you could ripen green tomatoes indoors. We had a large number of green tomatoes left on the vines this year when frost hit. I'm so glad we were able to ripen some indoors and last night these beauties made a delicious pasta sauce. πŸ…

The fall harvest season is coming to a close which means canning season is almost over. For months I've been making preserves, jams, sauces, and dehydrating veggies and fruits and I always love seeing the finished products in the fall. Our pantry is overflowing with Mason Jars and I feel so blessed to be able to be able to prep these goodies for the winter months 🍁❀

I found a good use for our extra zucchini squash - dehydrated chips! Zucchini has so much water that dehydrating it really intensifies the flavor. We'll see if these snacks even make it to winter 🀣
