One of my all time favorite pictures. Thanks Erin Tole for catching this amazing shot just seconds after a C-section delivery. We have come a long ways in making a C-section more baby friendly. Thanks Legacy for not thinking I was crazy when I first asked for a clear drape. Now they provide them routinely for every C-section making moments like this possible!

Starting in October I'll be at our Battle Ground Clinic every Monday. Hopefully that will make for an easier drive for at least some patients. I'll still be at Salmon Creek the rest of the time.

I am sold on the clear drape for C-sections. This is the patient's view of her baby seconds after delivery by cesarean. She got to see her baby, touch her through the drape and at least watch me cut the cord. I've never been a fan of separating a mom from her baby and when a C-section can't be avoided this option can improve the experience. (Pictures posted with permission.)

Keeping fit during pregnancy is obviously important. A new study looked at fetal heart rates during yoga. If you think keeping a fetal heart monitor in place during labor is difficult, try doing that during yoga. But these women did, and it looks safe.

Moms-to-be who practice prenatal yoga say it reduces stress, anxiety and even pain. A study finds that even poses once thought to be off limits to pregnant women are safe.

Friday was a sad day saying goodbye to Paige, my medical assistant for the past year. If you have met her, you will understand why she is so hard to lose. She is organized, smart and fantastic with people. Good luck on your new adventure in Michigan. I'm still holding out hope you will be back within a few weeks!

After asking for it based on patient requests, we now have the option of doing a C-section at Legacy Salmon Creek with a clear drape so patients can watch their delivery. Is this crazy or a brilliant idea? Would you want to watch the delivery part of a surgery?
