As we gear up to celebrate Mardi Gras today, we’re reflecting on last week — a week filled with connection, joy, and love 💜💛💚

As we intentionally focus on building relationships in our community, the week was a beautiful reminder of what matters most. We connected across generations with the Girl Scouts, enjoyed uplifting music from the Vancouver Brass Ensemble, welcomed talented tap dancers, laughed through the Oldywed game show, and hosted Valentine’s and Galentine’s tea parties in every neighborhood.

One especially heartwarming moment was our Resident Care Manager in Clarebrook, Aliyah, bringing residents together for tea and empowering a team member, Leah, to bake and decorate three stunning cakes. We also appreciated a pop-up Valentine’s treat cart for team members from our Executive Director, Kristal, and Resident Services Director, Heidi. They went to every department throughout the day to make sure to get multiple shifts covered.

A week full of connection, teamwork, and passion to serve — and we’re just getting started.

Our programs are always evolving—and sometimes the best ideas happen organically. 🔥

Recently, we hosted a Men’s Grill & Chill with our Building Services Director, Mark. Before we knew it, our Dining Services Director, Ron, and Retirement Counselor, Dan, jumped in too! What started as a casual hangout quickly turned into great conversation, laughs, and connection.

The result? A brand-new monthly men’s activity was born. 🙌

What happens when live music shows up in your community?

We’re thankful to the Vancouver Symphony for visiting and sharing their talented musicians with us. The response from residents showed a real love for live theater and music, and a desire to support more moments like this in the future.

We love welcoming new residents to our community!

Is it natural to feel a little nervous about moving — fitting in and adjusting to a new rhythm of life?

That’s why our Welcome Committee hosts a monthly Welcome Lunch. It’s a relaxed time to share a meal, meet new neighbors, and feel at home. As resident Pat K. likes to say, “If you’re bored here, it’s your own fault — and you don’t need a recliner here!” 😄

New residents are paired with a committee member who helps guide them through the transition. And who knows what you might discover about yourself? No limitations. Try something new — what do you have to lose? 💙

Pop-Up “Anything Goes” — Bartender’s Choice!

Residents were surprised with a special pop-up event by our very own Cadee Jo. With her signature warmth and creativity, she treated everyone to complimentary specialty cocktails, shared smiles, and plenty of laughter. Our residents adore Cadee Jo, and moments like these remind us how much heart she brings to our community. 💫🍸

Our gratitude group returned for a second round, led by a passionate resident with support from our team. Residents created vision boards to reflect on what matters most and shared what they’re grateful for—finding inspiration, connection, and support in a safe space to be open and vulnerable.

Morning reflection… 🌅

At our first monthly meeting of the year, it was wonderful to see our resident committees in action. The volunteerism, clubs, and everyday engagement remind us what makes this community so special—a place where people truly belong and look out for one another. 💛

Special thanks to our President, Dave, Vice President, Barb and Secretary, Jan for leading us into another great year at Touchmark!
