A Mother's Touch

A Mother's Touch Providing support for mothers and families during family planning, pregnancy, adoption, birth and beyond. I became a Doula shortly after the birth of my son.

DOULA: female helper; A woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth. That experience changed my life forever in ways I could have never dreamed. Every woman deserves to have the pregnancy, birth and entry into motherhood that she envisions. Granted, that is not always possible to fulfill 100% What is possible, though, is to have someone at her side, letting her know what is going on, speaking up for her when things can get a bit chaotic, comforting her emotionally and physically through the process, helping to answer questions as they come up and so much more. A Doula is not a guarantee that every single thing will go exactly as planned. It is an assurance that your desires will be heard and everything that can be done to satisfy those will be done. It is a friend that can step outside of the emotional highs and remember the wishes of the mom/family. It is someone who has an education of basic processes for the sake of providing information. It is someone with a knowledge of different options to use in order to achieve those goals. I believe there is importance in all stages of this process, not just the birth. Conception can take some time and be an emotional process. Having the help, support and encouragement of someone in those highs and lows can be very important as well. Pregnancy is an incredible process leaving so many questions and more information/decisions needing to be made than any other time in your life, for most women. After the baby arrives, that time of bonding and feeling supported is so very important. Having someone there to create that safe space for mom and baby to just be and learn about one another is vital. New moms should not have to sacrifice that time for chores and cooking and whatever else. New moms also need time for themselves: to take a bath, to do their hair, to read a book for a few minutes, enjoy a cup of tea... whatever it may be. It is so important to not loose yourself as you become a mother. My service options include: Birth Doula Care- Delivering care and support as early as planning your family through the birth process, and Postpartum Doula Services- Providing assistance with basic household needs and support for mom during the first few weeks of motherhood. More details on these services are available upon request.
