Myron Dale Davis, age 69, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 5:05 am Monday, June 16, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, June 23, 2025 at Waters Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation celebrating Myron's life will be held at 12:00 pm noon until the time of the service Monday at the Waters Funeral Home.

Myron was born on February 13, 1956, in Hannibal, MO the son of John and Fannie Davis.

He was united in marriage to Kim Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Davis of Vandalia, MO; son, Michael (Katrina) Wheeler of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Marlon Davis and Mark Davis (Donna) of Vandalia, MO; sister, Marian Davis of Vandalia, MO; grandson, Tanner Starks of Glendale, AZ and granddaughter, Makayla Wheeler of St. Louis, MO.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by two sisters, Marsha Kay Davis and Myra Jean Davis, and two brothers, Michael T. Davis and Mitchell Davis.

Professionally Myron worked at Harbison-Walker in Vandalia.

Myron was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Vandalia.

Myron was a faithful man of God whose life was grounded in spiritual strength, humility, and gratitude. His unwavering belief guided his every step, shaping the way he loved, served, and cherished those around him. He lived out his faith with kindness and a deep devotion to his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. His presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed.

Alongside his devotion to faith and family, Myron had a lifelong passion for sports, cars, and motorcycles. Whether attending car shows, polishing his collection to a brilliant shine, or riding his motorcycle with care and precision, Myron approached all his hobbies with enthusiasm and attention to detail. A true enthusiast, he took pride in always dressing sharp and presenting himself with style at every outing.

Myron also had a sweet tooth that couldn’t be ignored—there was always room for dessert, no matter the occasion. His love for country and western shows, paired with his enjoyment of mowing the yard, reflected a life rich in simple pleasures and genuine joy.

Above all, Myron was known for his warm heart and his ability to make those around him feel loved and valued. He touched many lives with his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering faith.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Maurice Davis, Gary Davis, Darrell Wiser, David Davis and William Wheeler Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Wheeler Sr., Ronnie Green, Artie Wiser, Donnell Perkins, Wendell Wheeler and Larry Wheeler.

Grace Opal Wortman

Grace Opal Wortman, born on March 17, 1940, in Moscow Mills, MO the daughter of Walter R. and Eva M. (Westermann) Bueneman, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at King's Daughters in Mexico, MO, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and community.

The family invites all to celebrate the life of Grace with a visitation on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the First Christian Church of Vandalia. Phillip Gore will officiate. Grace will be laid to rest in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.

The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.

Grace was united in marriage to the love of her life, Alvin, "Al" Wortman on June 8, 1958, in Troy, MO just a few weeks after graduating high school. These two sweethearts enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage together before his death on December 23, 2021.

Grace is survived by her loving daughter, Carla Wortman of Warrenton, MO; her dear brother, W.T. "Tom" Bueneman of Dunedin, FL; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

She now joins her dearly departed parents, her beloved husband, and her son, Mark Wortman in eternal rest.

A proud graduate of Buchanan High School, class of 1958, Grace devoted herself to the noble calling of homemaking, nurturing her family with a heart full of love and a spirit that touched all who knew her. Her dedication to her family was matched only by her fervent involvement in the First Christian Church of Vandalia, where she became an integral member of the Music Ministry and Sunday School. Through these cherished roles, she fostered a sense of community and inspired countless others with her passion for music and the Lord.

Grace's personality radiated warmth and kindness, qualities that endeared her to all. As a proud member of the PEO Chapter CE, Grace was always there to lend a helping hand, offering support and compassion to anyone in need. Her talents and hobbies were many; she found joy in playing the piano, pouring her heart into each note that resonated through the church and her home. Gardening brought her great satisfaction, as she lovingly tended to her flower beds, cultivating beauty in both her surroundings and her life. Cooking and sewing were also passions of hers, filled with the intention of creating comfort and joy for her family and friends. Among her beloved companions were her cherished dogs, who added joy and laughter to her daily routine.

Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her, reminding us all of the importance of love, kindness, and community.

Pallbearers will be Keith Kersting, Corey Enos, Shannon Wortman, John Tackett, Tim Kurz and Kevin Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of Waters Funeral Home.

Rebecca Jeannine Spencer

Rebecca Jeannine Spencer of Columbia passed away on the afternoon of May 23, 2025. Her parents, Ed and Virginia Cafer, welcomed her on July 11, 1951 in Hannibal, MO.

Jeannine married Roy S. Roe in 1972. They welcomed their two children: Emily Rebecca and Adam Christopher. Emily (David Driscoll of Columbia, MO) and Adam (Rachel Roe of Pueblo, CO), blessed Jeannine with six energetic and active grandsons. She enjoyed watching her grandsons in all their pursuits: basketball, jiu-jitsu, baseball, soccer, tennis, etc. She was their biggest cheerleader and they loved it. She really enjoyed playing numerous card games and marbles with them. She was always game to hang out by the pool too!

David W. Spencer and Jeannine were married in 2006. With this union, Jeannine gained a bonus daughter, Marissa Spencer (Francis van Thun of Columbia, MO).

Jeannine and David enjoyed many adventures together throughout their years of marriage. They enjoyed canoeing, biking, camping, hiking, and fishing. They were blessed to enjoy cruises and visiting family all over the country. They really enjoyed winters in warm locations.

Jeannine was a devoted friend to a vast number of people. She enjoyed being around others. She was a thoughtful, caring confidant to those around her.

Jeannine is survived by her husband, David Spencer; Emily and David Driscoll and their two boys Jonathan and Joshua, Adam and Rachel Roe and their four boys Haydn, Emmitt, Philip, and Malachi, Marissa Spencer and Francis von Thun, and Jeannine’s brother Jim and her sister in law Janet Cafer.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Virginia Cafer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crossing Church on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11AM, followed by a meal. Jeannine was laid to rest next to her parents in the Vandalia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Operation Smile here or by mailing to 3641 Faculty Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA, 23453. Gifts in Jeannine's memory may also be given to The Crossing Church by mailing to 3615 Southland Dr, Columbia, MO 65201.

Mary H. Bessone, 101, of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Mary was born on April 26, 1924, to Charles and Eulah Hardy. She grew up in Vandalia, MO. At a young age, Mary worked in Kansas City, MO where she met and married her husband, Andy Bessone. Mary and Andy enjoyed 56 years of marriage together, traveling all over the world. Through Andy’s job with Westinghouse, the couple lived in several places, but the love of the water and the beach is what ultimately settled them at Pensacola Beach, FL where Mary lived for over 43 years. They enjoyed hosting friends and family at their home on Pensacola Beach. Playing golf, bridge, and working in her yard were also things that brought Mary great happiness and joy. She always had a soft spot for animals and has rescued more cats than we can count.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Andy Bessone.

Survivors include her nephew, David Velten (Mary); as well as her godchildren, Mike Kreamer (Kathy) and Kathy Kreamer.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Azalea Trace Auditorium, with Pastor William “Bill” Lamont officiating. In celebration and honor of Mary’s life, all attendees are asked to wear something blue, Mary’s favorite color. A private interment will be held at Vandalia Cemetery, Vandalia, MO.

Carl B. Moore, Jr.

Carl B. Moore, Jr. age 101, a lifelong pillar of the community and resident of Vandalia, MO passed away at 5:04 am Friday, May 16, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, May 19, 2025, at the First Christian Church of Vandalia. Pastor Jamie Franke will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation celebrating Carl's life will be held 2:00 pm until the time of the service Monday at the First Christian Church of Vandalia.

The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.

Carl was born on December 14, 1923, in Vandalia, MO the son of Carl B. and Verna Gertrude (Simpson) Moore, Sr.

Carl was united in marriage to the love of his life Lora Helen Robinson on Dec 31, 1949, in Vandalia, MO. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2023.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Moore (Kelly) of Columbia, MO, Bobby Moore (Sharon) of Hannibal, MO, Stephen Moore and Ronald Moore (Terry) of Vandalia, MO; three granddaughters, Amanda Nerone (Gary) of Auburn, IL, Sarah Moore of Chatham, IL, and Katie Moore (Jeff) of Springfield, IL; three grandsons, Jared Moore (Katrina) of Town & Country, MO, Kit Moore (Rebecca) of Springfield, IL, and Connor Moore(Emma) of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his siblings Mina Lou Jackson, Shirley Morris, Gilbert Moore, Leonard Moore, Francis Powell and Lillian McQuirt.

Carl graduated from Vandalia High School in the class of 1941.

He went to work at the brick plant all day long along with farming nights and weekends. After several years at the brick plant, Carl went on to work on the farm full time raising row crops and hogs. Farming was a passion of Carl's; he was a simple man that enjoyed life on the farm. Farmall tractors was Carl's favorite work horse, he treasured his tractors and enjoyed tinkering with them when needed. Away from farming, Carl could be found hunting deer, turkey, antelope or

sitting on the water's edge with a pole in his hand reeling in fish. Mr. Moore was a licensed pilot who had the thrill of flying off in the clear blue skies. This brought him together with other pilots at the Vandalia Flying Club. An avid Cardinals fan, Carl either had them on the radio or if had a chance he would catch a game on TV. Mr. Moore's biggest love was his family. He cherished family gatherings, vacations and the warmth of their love in his heart.

Mr. Moore was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Vandalia.

Pallbearers will be Jared Moore, Kit Moore, Connor Moore, Gary Nerone, Doug Wood and Kameron Moore

Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Nelson and Buster Spires.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Vandalia, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
