A few months ago I told my weekly bread provider Fernhorn baking I had an eat local idea but I didn't know what to do with it. They brought it to VIGA and now it's eat Vashon week! Eating local is important for our local economy, fresh food is the most nutritious, and it builds community and connections that have value beyond food.
I try to get as much as I can from our own island all year, but it's so easy in summer!
Here's a breakfast, a dinner, and a snack.
Blossom coffee with Venison valley cream (my kids call venison valley milk extra yummy milk, and other milk just moo milk).
Breakfast: Eggs from my own hens, broccoli from Northbourne Farm, yellow plums from my yard, and a Fernhorn baking English muffin.
Snack:yogurt with blackberries from my yard and Vashon honey bought at Minglement.
Dinner: if you haven't tried the apple sausage from Stella Maris Farm you need to. Zucchini from my Gracie's Greens CSA and bread from Fernhorn.
