How lunasin's epigenetic mechanism differ from cancer drugs

Cancer drugs, like tamoxifen for example, target a specific gene (ER-estrogen receptor) and physiological pathway (estrogen receptor pathway) to inhibit breast cancer development.

Unlike cancer drugs, lunasin, as a low potency dietary ingredient, has been shown in numerous studies to affect expression of multiple genes in multiple pathways to promote cellular health, and help the body cope with cellular insults that may result in chronic disease formation, including cancer.

Lunasin is a 44 amino acid peptide that has been shown to have cancer chemopreventative and chemotherapeutic properties. This study investigated the potential utility of Lunasin as a chemotherapeutic in melanomas. Studies showed that Lunasin had little activity against established melanoma cell line...
