22 Years Today I walked out of IHD in Atlantic City sicker then I was when I walked in for a 7 day detox. They tried to tell me I needed to be on Methadone for the rest of my life and abstinence wasn’t possible. I called Jennifer Hansen and she set them straight! Out the door I went and into my recovery journey. Jesse James Gallagher babysat me for 2 days- walking me around Margate at night when I couldn’t sleep. I had nothing, no clothes, no money but just enough hope and support of my friends and N.A. to get me on a plane with Edwina Hansen and Roger Hansen to Jupiter, Florida. They helped me get into a sober living house and paid for my first two weeks rent and $100 for food. Jenn had bought me enough clothes to fit into a backpack- The rest is history - through AA, Gods Grace, my families love and support and A LOT of hard work, one day at a time today is my first day off all substances 22 years ago! The journey has been filled with life, and life isn’t always easy but through it all I have chosen to face the good and the not so good in recovery. Thank you to all that have supported my growth along the way. In 22 years it’s too many to tag but you know who you are and so do I!! ☮️ ❤️
