Simple and essential is our model for a SLIM identity—

Can we talk about something nobody in the skincare world wants to admit? 🌿
Your skin is not a topical problem. It is a plate problem.
I say this with so much love — but if you are layering on serums and creams and wondering why your skin still looks tired, dry, a little meh — we need to talk about what you had for dinner last night.

Here’s the thing. Animal protein dehydrates you from the inside out. Like, your body is literally pulling water from your cells just to digest it. And over time? It shows. Your face gets dull. Your skin gets dry. You start to look a little… heavy. Even if the scale hasn’t moved.
You start to look like what you’re eating 🫣

And I know that’s a lot. But here’s where it gets good.
When you shift to eating more plants — and I mean actually more, not less, not rabbit food, not restriction — your body starts to hydrate from the inside out. Your skin starts to glow. Your energy shifts. The weight your body has been gripping onto starts to release. Not because you’re starving yourself. Because you’re finally feeding yourself in a way your body actually recognizes.

This is what I work on with my clients every single day. We don’t shrink ourselves to get smaller. We become the woman who eats more, weighs less, and looks like she’s aging in reverse.
And honestly? She is. 🌱

What helped me lose the last 10 lbs and keep it off for 3 years?

I wouldn’t keep reaffirming that I have a ‘weight problem’ and/or that I need my hand held to do so…

I had a conversation with a dear friend who wants to join my coaching space and she had this nasty thought that I knew we needed to tackle before she would succeed. She said, the text coaching makes more sense right now, but what really needs is the protege (1:1, all access coaching) because she needs “hand holding.”

Hard stop.

She needed coaching on this before we could even explore working together. First of all. Not because she did anything ‘wrong’, but because she needed clarity to make empowered decisions. She 100% does not need hand holding. What she does need is to make a decision, to double down on herself, and THEN a clear direction where she anchors that self leadership (one of the SLIM pillars).

AND, she’s not wrong to have this thought. She’s human, we all have these sneaky, self sabotaging thoughts, we just don’t always catch them and then decide on purpose what we want to believe instead.

So instead of pushing her to join, I coached her through this, so that she could actually make the most empowered and aligned decision.

This is the work we do. We get coached not to be held or carried to the fishing line, but supported, seen and guided to the food freedom finish line.

This was a phrase I’d hear again and again over the course of my 50lb weight gain in high school.

Some may have thought a statement like this was mean, careless, or rude, but would also soon let it go and move on. I held onto the words as if they had been etched into my soul.

My whole identity became about never gaining the weight back after I lost it. God forbid I wasn’t ’perfect’.

Now I know…Every weight loss journey starts in our brains, not our body’s. When the brain isn’t on board with keeping weight off, if we don’t feel we can, our ‘typical’ familiar identity who struggles to keep weight off, will continue to persevere. The body can never outperform what your brain is giving it. And this is the best news ever because when you can start to think AND (this is key) FEEL like a naturally healthy fit, slim woman then you will not only be able to lose weight. You’ll be able to keep it off and you will have come-created a brand new identity that matches the way that you think. 

Now you might be thinking, this won’t work for me. I’ve tried everything.  This is too simple. It’s my hormones.  I promise you, you are not that special is the most magnificent way imaginable.  Because, what I know is, none of us were meant to struggle with food and weight loss.  God gave us everything we need to thrive including the hunger hormones, the foods where our most divine and natural state is slim.  The real, more powerful question to ask ourselves is, why is now the perfect time to double down on my goals?  why will it work for me? How can this time be different and iconic?  How can this Summer be legendary and fun? How was everything I’ve experienced and struggled with exactly what I needed to be here right here, right now to now claim my SLIM identity?

The fact is—the food was never the problem.

I spent over 25 years trying to fix something that wasn’t broken — my appetite, my body, my hunger — when the only thing that actually needed to change was the story I kept telling myself about who I was.

That carbs were safe, and the key to sustainable release.

That it could be simple.

That I could trust my body.

That’s what Illuminate is all about.

Wanting to look good and feel phenomenal isn’t superficial. It’s a declaration and celebration of being alive and a master of your mind and body.

Queens like Beyoncé, Elena Cardone and Leila Hormozi. They know this.

Being a naturally healthy and fit woman goes way beyond food (albeit, a skillset to master and never overlook).

Understanding the nuance of how the identity dictates results or lack thereof with our body goals) is the missing piece for so many of us (my stories of genetics and a broken metabolism because of disordered eating and a decade plus eating disorder was very convincing in terms of keeping me stuck, looping the same stories.)
