Two diverse yet complementary fields converge in this online 6-week Microcredential program.

Chinese medicine and depth psychology each possess an expansive view of the body and psyche and are grounded in rich traditions.

When Chinese medicine is integrated with depth psychology, we have a potent mix of healing modalities where each field magnifies the strengths of the other.

This course will provide both a theoretical and practical approach to integrating these two fields.

The curriculum emphasizes the fluid nature of the mind-body continuum, touching upon psychic structures, internal organs, physical and psychic energy, and conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and possession.

Students will engage with psychoanalysis, analytic and archetypal psychology, acupuncture, herbs, and dietetics.

This program will be suitable for those who are interested in an expansive view of mind-body medicine, integrative healing, and for clinicians, researchers, and students keen on delving into two vitalizing traditions.

I am fortunate to work next to great people. Not only is Sarah at Lashfox a skilled aesthetician, but she is a wizard at website development. She gave my website a much needed "face enhancement." She is also very kind and professional. Thank you, Sarah!

A 70 year old woman came to me because her middle finger was painful, and she couldn't bend or strengthen it. (Trigger Finger--Stenosing Tenosynovitis). Her hand had been like this for 6 months.
I did massage and acupuncture on her fingers to reduce the inflammation. After her 4th treatment, she had an increase in pain briefly, then her finger released, and she had full range of motion without pain. Two weeks later and her fingers are still doing great.
Acupuncture works well for this condition, yet I'm surprised how fast it worked. I'm constantly awed with this ancient medicine.

Out of hundreds of acupuncture points, this one might just be my favorite. Why?

Tian Zong, Small Intestine 11, located in the middle of the scapula, opens up the entire shoulder area, especially around and below the scapula. Neck pain, inner scapula pain, discomfort in the front of the chest and pain going down the arm, all are helped tremendously by this point, which is almost always sore when you press on it.

And because it sits right on top of the scapula bone, it's often missed when you get a massage.

I also use it for cough, breast tenderness, asthma, and jaw swelling.

Finally, the name of this point means Heavenly Ancestor. Therefore, it's a great point to connect us to our ancestry or work through problems related to our ancestors.

Tongue diagnosis is fundamental to Chinese medicine. It can give a clear picture as to what is going on in a person's body and psyche.

The black coating on this tongue was most likely due to taking antibiotics, which are very cold. The black color on this person went away in about 2 weeks.

A black coating may also indicate that the disease is of long duration. If it is black and dry it indicates heat in the body, where black and wet indicates cold.

The crack on the front indicates a digestive problem, usually a deficiency of stomach qi. And also perhaps some emotional problems.

What does your tongue look like?

Although I have studied many kinds of massage, my preferred tradition is Shiatsu. Sustained pressure, often using my thumbs, seems to get the most bang for your buck.

I prevent my hands from hurting by using my legs and lower abdomen to generate the pressure force.

I usually do massage prior to acupuncture. This gives me diagnostic information and primes the body to receive the filaments.

After that, it's time for the patient to reeelaaax!

Gall Bladder 20, behind the head, is one of my favorite acupuncture points. I use it in most of my back treatments.

There is so much tension in this area; it is sore on almost everyone.

Headaches, migraines, dizziness, vision, hearing and nose problems are improved with this point alone.

And if you want to sleep better, this point does the job!
