Ventura Family Medicine Residency Program The Family Medicine Residency Program at Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) is a premier site for unopposed full spectrum Family Medicine training.

Affiliated with the UCLA School of Medicine, VCMC is one of the original 15 programs approved in Family Practice and has been educating physicians since 1928. Graduates of the program are equipped with the skills to work anywhere, especially with the medically underserved. Ventura residents establish continuity Family Medicine practices for a diverse patient population in the Academic Family Medic

ine Center while managing VCMC's inpatient medicine, surgery, OB, ICU, ER, and pediatric services. They take time out once a week for protected didactic time, enjoy each others' company during an annual all-resident retreat, and get to live in Ventura, California.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to have been your chiefs & love our VCMC community fiercely.

Favorite memories from the year include:
💫 helping co residents make it to life events and have some sense of schedule flexibility despite being busy busy residents
💫 planning & executing the retreat throwdown weekend of a lifetime (long live the Surf Rodeo & pool inflatables)
💫 the joy of meeting & welcoming the R1 class during orientation and getting to see it click when they realize just how special VCMC is
💫 getting a front row seat to seeing co-residents grow into fantastic physicians & advocating for the changes residents want to see to improve their training & experience

Our ✨Paella Chef is Dr Jacob Colbert R3 ✨ - founder of in his pre-residency life. The base of the seafood paella was made from lobsters he and Sous-Chef Brandt (R3 partner, also pictured) caught over the winter. The vegetarian paella featured locally grown asparagus and other vegetables. It was a feast!!
