Many VCMC grads find their way up to NorCal to staff a busy ED and small med/surg unit at Modoc Medical Center.

R3 Dr Sedlacek spent her away elective enjoying the thrills of critical access medicine, hearing stories from the nurses about VCMC legendary physicians, and exploring the high desert planes of the Modoc National Forest.

Advocacy Workshop 🗣️📢🤝

Engaging with our local government to discuss their work in the community in response to the recent ICE raids and identify practical action steps.

Dr Self (VCMC grad) used his training to build Ajkun Pa Le Qatinimit - Clínica Médica Cristiana, a rural health center in Guatemala. They now regularly host current VCMC residents like Dr Khaksar (R3/Chief) for away elective training.

The hybrid health center in rural Guatemala has:
Outpatient Consultation
On-site Pharmacy
Laboratory
Point-of-Care Ultrasound
Inpatient Hospitalization
Critical Care and Resuscitation

“Nicky Tod - the hero we don’t deserve. Teaching his awesomeness to our new interns. Literally ALWAYS ready to go. Has complained maybe twice in his life. Contagious happiness and great spirit. Makes everyone laugh. Plays the best music. People hang out after work just to continue giggling with Nick. Most of all, we can ALL trust him to take the best care of all of the VCMC and AFMC patients.”

Our all-star team on Inpatient Medicine right now: no code is too much for them!! 💙❤️💛

Medicine days at VCMC include admitting patients from the ED, running medical codes, head of bed for traumas, inpatient procedures, team didactics, rounding with case management and consults, and carrying lists of 12-16 patients on average. The days are long but we learn so much!
