🌼 A Little Life Update 🌼

We are excited to share that Shannon will be starting maternity leave in July as we welcome a new baby boy into the world.💛

If you would like to see her for a facial or if you would like to get in for a couples massage with her and Sharlene before her maternity leave, she will be seeing clients through the end of June, and spots are filling fast! ✨

While Shannon is away, Sharlene will still be available offering massage services—so the studio will remain open and ready for you to relax and reduce pain.💆‍♀️🌿

Thank you for being part of our little community. Your support means everything to us, and we can’t wait to see you soon!

Facial masking, one of my favorite steps during a facial! It is a crucial step in skincare, offering numerous benefits to different areas of the face. Some key advantages are:

Targeted Hydration,
Masks can deliver a surge of moisture to dry areas of the face, making them feel softer and more supple. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and aloe vera are commonly used for hydration.

Brightening and Even Skin Tone,
Masks with ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, or enzymes can help reduce dark spots and promote an even complexion.
They give the skin a radiant glow.

What is your favorite part of a facial?

Hello, my name is April Garcia. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be the new owner of Twin Palms Health and Beauty. I have been a Massage Therapist for over 17 years in Ventura. We are truly grateful to have served this amazing community over the years. This has been one of the best experiences of our lives and we are thankful you allowed us to be apart of your healthcare routine.

After nearly 10 years serving Ventura, we will be closing our business and moving to a new state.
This will be a sad goodbye, but we are very excited for this new adventure.

Our official closing date will be
February 17th 2023.

If you have received a gift card or have purchased a gift card for someone and they have not redeemed it, or have a package from the past you have not used, we would love to have you in before we close.

We will NOT be selling gift cards for the holidays.

We are in search of the best massage therapist and esthetician in town to refer you to. As the time gets closer, we will put together a list.

If you have any questions about our move or you would like to schedule your appointment, please contact us here, or text us.

Some great info regarding the skin. Check it out.

Some people carry a genetic variation which prevents them from effectively converting beta-carotene into vitamin A.

It takes 2 BCMO1 genes to convert beta carotene into retinal, but 45% of the population carries at least 1 gene variation that reduces BCMO1 activity, resulting in impaired ability to convert beta-carotene into retinal.

Depending on the combination of variants someone inherits, beta-carotene conversion can be nearly 70% lower than in people with 2 genes!

These people may not be eating enough foods rich in retinol (preformed vitamin A) which is present in foods of animal origin such as calf's liver, egg yolks, cod liver oil, & dairy.

With an inability to convert beta-carotene into vitamin A & a low consumption of foods that contain retinol, these people may not be getting enough vitamin A.

Anyone with impaired conversion, must consume pre-formed vitamin A from animal foods!

Following a vegetarian, vegan, or low-fat diet will increase the risk of chronic vitamin A deficiency.

Vitamin A deficiency is one of several hypovitaminoses implicated in keratosis pilaris, & retention hyperkeratosis, otherwise known as acne.

Vitamin A regulates desquamation of the corneocytes (it regulates the natural exfoliation of the surface skin cells).

With too little Vitamin A, the skin cells continue to grow, but don't flake off as they should, & begin to back up. This is a common symptom of keratosis pilaris.

Since the epidermis extends down into the follicle, the skin cells become trapped &, combined with secretions from the oil gland, form a plug that leads to an acne lesion, whether it be a comedone or a pustule.

Since the skin is a two-sided organ, it's helpful to eat more preformed vitamin A rich foods, such as beef liver, as well as manage plugged follicles with a keratolytic product, such as sunflower oil or salicylic acid.

Our Story

First and foremost, our passion at Twin Palms Health and Beauty Boutique is helping people feel healthy and beautiful inside and out. We grew up in Southern California, so our love for beach life has always been strong, as well. We’ve always had a dream of owning our own business, so it only made sense for us to combine that with our years of experience in the spa and healthcare industry to open up shop here in Ventura Beach. We offer massage therapy and custom spray tanning services that are personalized for your wants and needs, and we couldn’t be more proud of our dream come true. Day in and day out, we love what we do, and we hope to welcome you here to experience our relaxing atmosphere for yourself soon.
