Completed in December 2009, the beautiful Veterans Home of California-Ventura is a 60-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, also known as assisted living. d between the Ventura River and the Santa Clara River, with soil so fertile that citrus trees grow better in Ventura than anywhere else in the state. Completed in December 2009, the beautiful Veterans Home of California–Ventura is a 60-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), also known as assisted living. All healthcare needs, meals, transportation and activities are provided by the Veterans Home of California–Ventura, in partnership with the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. Ventura and nearby Oxnard, California offer many cultural and educational opportunities for Veterans Home residents and their families to enjoy, including the Ventura County Fairgrounds, Ventura Harbor Village, Oxnard Heritage Square, the nearby harbors areas of Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme and the Channel Islands – as well as California’s historic Missions and Adobes, golf courses, museums, lovely parks and shopping centers. The veterans home provides California veterans with a living environment that protects their dignity and contributes to their feeling of self-reliance and self-worth. Veterans desiring to be considered for admission must be residents of California, age 55 or older (or younger if disabled), and have served honorably.

Our heroes had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day celebration. We are grateful for the visit from our dear friends Sharen and Lynn, representatives of VFW Auxiliary 1679, our local VFW Auxiliary-National Organization post. They generously sponsored a fun round of bingo, and several lucky winners received cash prizes courtesy of their chapter. Additionally, everyone who participated was treated to special green sugar cookies to mark the occasion.

Who knew a little friendly competition could be such a morning mood booster? And let’s not forget the stunning garden behind the action, proving that you can play hard and appreciate the beauty of nature at the same time.

Fall 2025 is in full swing here at the Veterans Home of California - Ventura. Last month, our community came together to embrace our heroes and remind them how cherished they are. We celebrated the Marine Corps' 250th Birthday with a heartfelt event and received a visit from local students on Veterans Day. Additionally, the kind-hearted members of the Daughters of the American Revolution graced us with their presence, which made our residents feel truly appreciated. Thanksgiving was a wonderful celebration with plenty of great food and festivities, and we’re excited about what the rest of the holiday season will bring!

Our residents are enjoying the activities at our home this fall. Here are a few highlights from our recent Oktoberfest celebration. The decorations, live music, and joyful smiles still have us floating on cloud nine!

Yesterday, the Veterans Home of California - Ventura enjoyed a fantastic performance by the Tapping Tootsies! This talented group of women dazzled us with their tap dancing while honoring our country and the heroes who protect it. Please join us in giving them a big thank you for their kindness and support. Our residents loved the show!
