I went grocery shopping today. I decided to read the ingredients of "Dove Sensitive"....if you use Dove Sensitive, and still experience breakouts or reactions.....PLEASE READ!!!!!
π« Potential Irritants or Sensitizers
1. Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Common in cleansers and shampoos.
Can cause contact dermatitis or itching in sensitive skin β itβs derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine, which can leave allergenic residues.
2. Fragrance (Parfum)
Even in small amounts, βfragranceβ is a major cause of allergic reactions and irritation.
Itβs a broad category that can include dozens of undisclosed chemicals.
3. Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate & Sodium Methyl Lauroyl Taurate
Mild surfactants, but any detergent-type ingredient can disrupt the skin barrier in sensitive individuals, leading to dryness or tightness.
4. Lauric Acid, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid
Generally safe, but in combination with surfactants, can sometimes clog pores or irritate acne-prone or reactive skin types.
5. Sodium Benzoate & Citric Acid
Used as preservatives and pH adjusters.
Low risk overall, but may cause stinging or redness in those with eczema or rosacea.
π§ Generally Safe and Soothing Ingredients
Water (Aqua) β Base ingredient.
Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean Oil), Glycerin β Provide moisture and skin barrier support.
Capryloyl Glycine, Undecylenoyl Glycine β Gentle antimicrobial and skin-conditioning amino acid derivatives.
Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride β A conditioning polymer that helps soften skin.
While Dove markets this as βSensitive Skin Safe,β it still contains:
Synthetic surfactants and fragrance, both of which can irritate highly sensitive or allergic skin.
If youβre reactive, you might prefer a fragrance-free, surfactant-free cleanser made with ingredients like colloidal oats, aloe vera, shea butter, or pure castile soap (unscented).
