Heartbroken by the news of so many lives taken by su***de. We looked to Anthony Bourdain as inspiration, not because of his love for food, but because he was a recovering he**in addict who was homeless for a year. He showed us that they do recover. I’ve always said, once the drugs are gone, the demons (mental illness) remain. The struggle is real! All the more reason to always be kind.

“Fixing your mental health isn't like surgery. We can't just run the blood work and check the vitals. With mental health, progress is way harder to measure. And if som**hing's wrong, we have to take action. There's a lot of uncertainty, there's a lot of fear, and what might be easy for one person, for someone else might take inner strength you can't even image. But we have to try. We have to stand up to our demons. We have to face reality whenever possible, and ask for help when we can't. And when we do that, healing is possible." - Meredith Grey

“She is very strong, a very strong girl and she’s told me she wants to help people, and warn them to never ever touch a drug,” Tompkins said.

Tompkins said Muthart admitted she had been using m**h for the past six months prior to the incident. Doctors believe some other chemical or drug had been added to the m**h to cause Muthart to react the way she did, her mother said.

"Be very, very careful of any (illegal) drug you get because you never know what you’re going to get in it," Tompkins said.

The mother of an Upstate woman who gouged out her eyes behind an Anderson County church said the 20-year-old is now recovering and adjusting to being blind.
