Recently, The Connecticut Academy of Audiology’s Board of Directors wrote a letter to both the Connecticut Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Society and the Connecticut State Medical Society, as they were listed among the State associations in support of the June 3rd letter sent to Congress by the Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). We referenced the incredible letter written by our national organizations, (https://lnkd.in/etQ-yxgd) and encouraged an open dialogue with our fellow Connecticut associations.

March 3rd is World Hearing Day!

The World Health Organization (WHO) created this day to promote ear and hearing care around the world. Their theme this year is “Changing Mindsets: Empower yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all.”

The WHO is launching two initiatives for World Hearing Day:
A new global standard for safe listening in video game play and e-sport
A school module on smart listening, for inclusion into educational programs

Additionally, ASHA and the EAA are partnering to educate families about hearing loss prevention, focusing on safe listening for video gamers.
