Driving to this show, we had amicable conversations about her showing in the junior class (this class is for non pro and trainers, with horses 5 yr and younger) and she is by far the youngest at 11 yrs old, and picked on her that she’s only won the reserve not the champion buckle. With all the confidence in the world, she looked up and said:”That’s gonna change this weekend!”
And run after run, she gave her best, a cow run that made the open trainers envious with a 75.5 for 🥈, fluid in trail 75 for 🥈 and pleasure 75.5 for 🥈 and beautiful 🤩 run in the reining with a 72 for 6th.
She has been riding this 5 year old mare herself for 99% of the time herself since she got her over a year and a half ago. It wasn’t moms choice to let a 9yr old kid have a 3 yr old mare, that was pretty feisty in her own, and she’s made mistakes that led that mare to test her, and she’s been whistled out of the pen before because of the mares misbehavior, but that never let her stop her, she would go home and try harder. Through this time, her mare is getting sweeter, and maturing very well under the guidance of this young lady. This mare kicked her out of novice youth last year because of money earned, she spent the first half of this year just barely missing the top 10, and we had many tears of disappointment, but again, she came home and worked harder, and she earned her reserve buckle in Amarillo, then fast forward to this weekend, she rode better then I’ve ever seen her, and she accomplished a big goal not only of her own, but of many other riders.
We are so proud of her, her grit and determination. She is a natural talent, but she also work hard, and that’s hard to beat when it all comes together.
And not to leave him out, but her dad also finished 🥉 in that class (will give it to him, his horse came in just a few short months ago with lead changes that were messed up to say it in the nicest way) and lots of other things that needed a lot of work.
Cow 75 🥉
Reining 73 🥉
Pleasure 71
Trail 74.5 4th
He also showed Hattie in the Junior, for her first time, she had no stops, rear in the spins, no lead changes, would run in the other direction when she saw a cow or flag, no extended trot, and so on. To be able to go from that mid April to showing her this weekend, was 🤩
Slight bobble in the lead changes kept her down in the reining after doing them very well in practice 🤷♀️, 72.5 in cow 74 in trail for 7th.
Stay tuned for lots more update from everyone else. Very proud of our whole team.
