We invite you to join us as we honor the life and legacy of Al Monzo with a Celebration of Life & Training Center Dedication on May 10th 2025 at 164 Breakneck Road.

Al Monzo was a devoted member of the Vernon Township Ambulance Squad, dedicating 20 years to serving our community. He earned his EMT certification in May 2001 and continued to selflessly help others until his passing on May 10, 2020, from ALS. Al’s heart of gold, unwavering kindness, and dedication to mentoring new EMTs left an indelible mark on our organization and the countless lives he touched.

To honor his memory and contributions, we are dedicating our newly updated training center in his name—The Al Monzo Training Center—a place where future generations of EMTs and first responders will learn lifesaving skills.

Event Details:

Hello be sure to go like our new organization, Vernon Emergency Medical Services.

Newly formed from the merger of Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps Historical Site and Vernon Township Ambulance Squad Historical Site.

Hello Friends and Supporters of Vernon Emergency Medical Services!

We are excited to announce the debut of our new patch following the merger of Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps Historical Site and Vernon Township Ambulance Squad Historical Site

Here’s an explanation of our design choices:

Color Scheme: We chose blue and green for their calming and professional appearance, fitting for a medical service organization. These are also the original colors of Vernon Township. The red heartbeat line provides a striking contrast, emphasizing the medical aspect.

Text Layout: The acronym "VEMS" is creatively integrated into the design, with each letter in a different color to make it memorable. The full name "Vernon Emergency Medical Services" is clearly displayed to ensure viewers understand what VEMS stands for.

Shape and Outline: The logo's shape, reminiscent of Vernon Township, adds geographical context and a sense of community focus. It is unique, as it is rare to find an agency with a patch representing the township they serve.

Additional Elements: The inclusion of the star of life symbol in the top right corner is a recognizable icon in emergency medical services, reinforcing the nature of our work. The heartbeat line and "Vernon Township, New Jersey" at the bottom add further context and visual interest. Additionally, the "V" stands for Vernon and is the "V" we proudly see throughout the township.

Slogan: The slogan "Providing Service With a Community Focus Since 1963" at the top highlights our long-standing commitment to community service.

A huge THANK YOU to Madyson S. and Avery C. for putting their ideas together and creating this patch. We also want to thank everyone who took the time to create a patch – your efforts did not go unnoticed.

Thank you for your support!
