Dr. Wendee Asks — Question 1

Hi friends, Dr. Wendee here.

Many people in survivorship quietly grieve the life they had before cancer — their routines, energy, roles, and sense of normal. This question invites gentle reflection on that often unspoken loss.

Question:
Have you found yourself grieving the life you had before cancer, and what parts of that life do you miss the most?

Share if you feel comfortable — your honesty may help someone else feel seen and less alone.

Is it okay to grieve the life you had before cancer?

If this question has ever lived quietly in your heart, you are not alone.

Grief after cancer is real, complex, and often unspoken—and it deserves space and compassion.

In today’s WISE Corner, we’re naming this grief and reminding survivors that two truths can exist at once: gratitude for survival and mourning for what changed.
