The mission of CT Fire Police Association (CFPA) is to promote the training of Fire Police through teamwork, respect and cooperation to ensure a safe and secure environment for all first responders, the public, and ourselves. We are committed to promoting awareness of our role as public safety professionals and we support an inclusive and diverse network of dedicated Fire Police to protect and serve first responders and the public throughout Connecticut. Membership in the Association is open to any person qualified under CGS 7-313a as a Fire Police Officer and is in good standing with their department/company. CFPA meetings are held twice a year, in May and November, at alternating locations. Our thoughts are with those heading to Emmitsburg, Md., this weekend for National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Among those who will be at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial will be CFPA First Vice President Greg Roberts, who will again be serving as a Family Es**rt. Safe travels to all.

Nationally, 97 firefighters died in the line of duty in 2025. Their names will be formally unveiled on the monument this weekend. The names of another 107 firefighters who died in previous years will also be formally unveiled. Details about each of those men and women can be found in the 2026 Roll of Honor, at https://www.firehero.org/2026-roll-of-honor/

The Memorial Weekend Candlelight Service is scheduled for 7:30 pm Saturday. The Memorial Service is scheduled for 10 am Sunday. If you’d like to view them, both will be streamed at weekend.firehero.org

Also a reminder this morning that flags are to be lowered from sunrise to sunset Sunday in observance of National Fallen Firefighters Day.

The officers and members of CPFA extend our profound condolences to our brothers and sisters in Richlandtown Fire Company, Richlandtown (Bucks County), Pennsylvania, on the LODD of Fire Police Officer Todd Koch.

It is with profound sadness that the Richlandtown Fire Company announces the Line of Duty Death (LODD) of Fire Police Officer Todd Koch.

Fire Police Officer Koch suffered a severe respiratory attack while responding to an emergency call, which led to cardiac arrest on Monday, March 9, 2026. Despite immediate and continued lifesaving efforts, Todd passed away as a result of this medical emergency.

Todd was a dedicated and valued member of the Richlandtown Fire Company and served the community with commitment and pride. His willingness to answer the call to help others reflects the selflessness that defines the fire service.

The members of the Richlandtown Fire Company extend their deepest condolences to Todd’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. His loss is felt deeply throughout our department and the community he faithfully served.

We respectfully ask the public to keep Todd’s family, as well as the members of the Richlandtown Fire Company, in your thoughts and prayers.

An FPO operating at the Snow Flake Parade in Jewett City (Griswold) was the victim of a hit and run incident last night.

The FPO was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich, and reportedly treated for minor injuries. The FPO was one of two members of JCFD injured in separate incidents last night. Both are home recovering.

Thoughts and prayers to the Georgetown (DE) Fire Company FPO who was critically hurt in the line of duty Monday night. Our thoughts are also with his fire company, and friends and family.

A fire police officer was critically hurt Monday evening after being struck by a car at the intersection of Shingle Point Road and Lewes-Georgetown Highway.
