A diet usually means cutting things out or following strict rules, which often leaves the body underfed and stressed. In contrast, nourishment means giving your body what it truly needs: balanced meals with real nutrients, hydration, movement, rest, and care.

When you focus on nourishment instead of dieting, you:

After 40 years of dedicated service, we announce with joy and gratitude the upcoming retirement of Dr. Robert Wolff beginning September 30th.

Dr. Wolff has been an INTEGRAL part of Back In Balance, contributing years of knowledge, expertise, warmth and humor! Dr. Wolff has been more than a mentor and guide for the last 6 months for myself (Dr.Jess) and our team- he’s been a person to lean on, the first to provide a helping hand, never afraid to assist, and opened room for growth, expansion, and change.

Dr. Robert Wolff has left an enduring mark on his community and this office. While we will miss his daily presence, we are thrilled as he embarks on his new, exciting chapter- filled with well deserved rest, travel, and time with loved ones.

Please join us in thanking Dr.Wolff for his 40 years of hard work and dedication to seeing results and much much more!

Muscular compensation: A hot topic I discuss with patients OFTEN!

Muscular compensation is when certain muscles take over or work harder than they should to compensate for weakness, inhibition, or dysfunction in other muscles or joints. This usually happens when the body tries to maintain movement, posture, or stability despite imbalances, injuries, or mobility restrictions elsewhere.

Key causes of this include:
- muscle weakness (ex: glutes not firing properly)
- joint instability or injury
- mobility restrictions (tight hips or thoracic spine)
- neurological impairments (post stroke, nerve injury)

Your body will always try to accomplish a specific movement. By doing so, overactive muscles ā€œpick up the slackā€ leading to altered movements, muscle tightness, increased risk of injury, and long term postural dysfunction.
