🧘🏾♀️🫶🏾💚
This isn’t to shame anyone.
But when humans feel safe, we relax, play, connect, explore, learn, and flow.
There’s actually an entire chapter dedicated to play in Stephen Porges’ book on Polyvagal theory.
Play is so important and so good for us (hearts, minds, and bodies), and when we’re not able to access it, our nervous system is telling us something is off.
As someone who grew up feeling largely unsafe in my own body, it wasn’t until I began releasing so much of the stored tension that I suddenly found myself relaxing more easily, getting back into comedy, and sharing more of my silly side with people.
When it started to come out, it felt like coming home.
I love to laugh, to tease, and to be playful, but when I don’t feel safe that part of me shrivels up.
It’s a part that has always come out with children and animals (I love being around little kids so much), but has historically been much more shy with other adults and peers.
So many people I work with struggle with letting their hair down, relaxing, and being playful. But I want you to know that this isn’t necessarily just a part of your personality.
You’re not just a ‘serious’ person.
There is often a part of you on guard, making sure you don’t do or say or appear X, so that you can stay safe, connected, or out of harm’s way. So that you won’t be rejected.
Because that’s what adults are 'supposed' to do to be respected (stay safe).
When you get to know this part that stops you from softening, relaxing, and playing, and you can help it feel a bit safer, you can slowly start to relax into the moment, going with the flow in the present moment instead of trying to control it.
If you're working to bring more play, ease, and relaxation in your body, then the Cycle Breakers program beginning September 2nd is for you.
This is a year long program for those committed to intentionally meeting themselves with more safety, generosity, compassion, and accountability as they begin to break old cycles and patterns of relating to themselves, others and the world.
And it’s done in small, supportive, heart-centered community.
Register before August 1 to get the early bird discount!
