Our Story
No, that’s not a misspelling – our Golden Retriever spells his name with a K! We’re Pamela and Adrian Pettyan, proud pet parents and Canadian medical professionals who ran a primary health care center for families in our local community. And yes, there really was a Karu!
Practically from puppyhood, Karu had constant ear infections. To address this problem, our veterinarian suggested a homemade diet consisting of pure, healthy, nutritious food.
From the day we switched Karu to this new dietary routine, we found that he was more playful and healthy. From our health care background, we couldn’t understand why there weren’t pet food products at our local stores that were as good as what we could make at home. So in close collaboration with an accomplished animal Ph.D. nutritionist, we created a complete line of nourishing meals and treats that are as good as homemade food.
At Caru, we’re as passionate about the health and happiness of pets as you. That’s why we start with real meat or poultry as the first ingredient (no ingredients from China), and why our stews are made in the United States. Our products are made without artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and don’t contain any grain, wheat, gluten, corn, soy or animal by-products. We only use non-GMO ingredients and meat and poultry that’s antibiotic and hormone free.
We offer the only ready-to-eat dog and cat food that is made with 100% human grade ingredients and is prepared in a human food grade facility. Thanks to this and our proprietary cooking and packaging process, Caru looks, smells and tastes Just Like Homemade!
