Occasional noise during sleep can happen. But habitual snoring is often a sign that a child is struggling to breathe properly at night. Snoring may indicate airway resistance, mouth breathing, or disrupted oxygen flow during sleep.

Sleep is when growth, healing, and brain development occur. If breathing is compromised during sleep, the body can’t fully rest or develop as intended.

If your child snores regularly, breathes through their mouth, or seems restless during sleep, an airway-focused dental evaluation can help uncover what’s contributing to their breathing challenges.

Testimonials like this remind us that addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms, can lead to better sleep, improved function, and a higher quality of life.

Ongoing allergies often cause chronic nasal inflammation and congestion, making nasal breathing difficult. When the nose is consistently blocked, the body compensates with mouth breathing, changing tongue posture, increasing airway strain, and thus potentially affecting sleep quality and overall health.

If you experience chronic allergies along with snoring, poor sleep, or persistent congestion, consider an airway-focused dental or medical evaluation to better understand how breathing, sleep, and oral health are connected.

A sinus-focused CBCT gives a 3D view of the airway and sinus space; areas that play a critical role in breathing, sleep quality, and overall health. This type of imaging allows clinicians to evaluate sinus volume, inflammation, blockages, and how facial growth may be impacting airflow.

If you or your child struggles with chronic congestion, mouth breathing, snoring, or restless sleep, advanced imaging like a CBCT can help uncover the why.

When orthodontic guidance starts early, treatment can work with a child’s natural growth instead of trying to correct problems later. Supporting jaw development early helps create space for teeth, the tongue, and healthy breathing.

If your child has crowded teeth, mouth breathing, snoring, or difficulty sleeping, an early airway-focused orthodontic evaluation can provide clarity and options.

Dr. Jenna from Dental Partners of Vero Beach delivered sleep and airway education at the 2026 Breathe and Thrive Symposium in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Jenna shares:
“Today was incredible. Seeing other doctors excited about airway dentistry and doing more for their patients is the best feeling. I am beyond excited that more doctors are learning how to go beyond their patients' teeth and truly improve lives. Being part of this movement is incredible”.

Today, we know that crooked teeth are often a sign of underdeveloped jaws and airway challenges, not just a cosmetic issue. That’s why modern, airway-focused dentistry looks beyond straight teeth to address how the face, jaws, and airway grow together.

Can Clear Aligners Help with Airway Health?
Believe it or not, the position of your teeth and jaw can directly affect your breathing. Misaligned teeth can shift the jaw and tongue forward or backward, which may narrow the airway and contribute to issues like snoring or sleep apnea.

Clear aligners (like Invisalign) gradually straighten teeth while supporting proper jaw alignment. By guiding the teeth into optimal positions, they can create more space for the tongue and airway, helping improve airflow and potentially reducing breathing difficulties during sleep. In some cases, early or guided treatment with aligners can support better long-term airway health as well as a healthier smile. Clear aligners are popular with teens and adults looking for a discreet virtually invisible orthodontic system due to their thin clear plastic.

Schedule a consultation with an airway-focused dentist to see if clear aligners would be the right treatment for you.

❌ Myth: “If I don’t snore every night, I don’t have sleep apnea.”

✅ Fact: Sleep apnea symptoms can vary from night to night. Even occasional snoring, gasping, or pauses in breathing can signal a larger issue.

If daytime fatigue or unrefreshing sleep persists, it’s worth talking to a healthcare provider about evaluation and treatment options.

Early Orthodontic Care with Myobrace®

Myobrace® is a removable appliance that helps guide your child’s jaw and teeth to develop properly. By gently correcting oral habits like mouth breathing or incorrect tongue posture, it supports natural teeth alignment, healthy jaw growth, and better overall breathing.

If your child shows signs of mouth breathing, crowding, or jaw development concerns, consider an evaluation with an airway-focused dentist to see if Myobrace® could be an appropriate early intervention treatment system for your child.
