Hyer Learning Worried about your toddler’s development? I help you know what to do next. 👉 SLP • 35+ years

It’s not about checking off tasks.

It’s about learning how to live together.

Families are teams.
And when children are invited into that—
they don’t just “help.”

They begin to understand how life works.

Most toddler struggles are not actually about the toddler.

Not the meltdowns.
Not the listening.
Not the clinginess.

And that’s not something to feel guilty about…
it’s something to feel hopeful about.

Because when the parent becomes more steady—
the child’s world becomes more secure.

And that’s where real change begins.

If this resonates, the full episode goes deeper.

Most toddler sleep struggles aren’t just about sleep.

They show up as:
• more meltdowns
• less listening
• slower language

And after 35+ years working with families, I can tell you this with confidence:

👉 Sleep is when your toddler’s brain is being built.

Not just resting…
building.

Construction.

Which means the small things you do during the day matter more than most parents realize.

The good news?

You don’t need complicated routines or perfect schedules.

You need a few simple rhythms that support your child’s brain, body, and connection.

I put together a simple list of 10 steps I use with families all the time.

If you want it:

👉 DM me SLEEP and I’ll send it to you

And if you want to understand why this matters (and how it connects to behavior, listening, and language)…

You pour language in all day.
You narrate, read, sing, explain, repeat.

But here’s what most parents don’t realize:

Practice alone doesn’t create learning.
Practice followed by sleep does.

During deep sleep, your toddler’s brain replays the day, strengthens connections, and moves new learning into long-term memory.

Sleep isn’t separate from development.
It’s what makes it stick.

You're doing more than any generation of parents before you. Researching, optimizing, tracking, adjusting.

And something still feels off.

That feeling isn't random. And it isn't a reflection of how much you love your child.

After nearly four decades of working with children and families, I want to tell you something that most parenting content is too careful to say — some of what we've normalized in early childhood may be quietly working against the very outcomes we want.

Not because you're doing it wrong. Because nobody told you to look here.

That's what this series is for.

Episode 144 is live — link in bio.

💬 Tell me — does any of this land for you? What's the thing you're doing everything right on, and it still doesn't feel like it's working?

That baby crawling across the floor to grab the rattle?

That's not just cute.

That's motor planning, bilateral coordination, core strength, visual tracking, cause and effect, object permanence, spatial awareness and problem solving — all happening simultaneously in a nine month old with a toy on the floor.

I've spent decades watching babies play up close. And I want to tell you what I actually see.

A full body neurological event.

Among the most sophisticated neurological work a human being will ever do — simply because the brain is starting from nothing and building everything.

These moments are not small.

And background TV — even when nobody is watching, even when his back is to the screen — is quietly disrupting the depth of that play in ways most parents have never been told.

This is just one of five research-based findings I cover in Episode 145. The other four surprised even me — and I've been doing this for nearly four decades.

Full episode 145 is live now — link in bio.

💬 When you watch your baby or toddler play — what do you actually notice? I'd love to hear what you see. 👇

For mothers navigating the beautiful chaos of raising little ones, here's a reminder:

Success isn't about perfection, and failures aren't fatal.

It's the bravery to persevere, to love fiercely, and to keep showing up that defines true success in motherhood.

Keep shining, listen to that inner voice, she's speaking your language!

Weaning off the pacifier is much more succesful when we have STRATEGIC PLAN - starting around 6 and working toward 12 months... starting with these reasons:

ORAL DEVELOPMENT: Prolonged pacifier use can potentially impact oral development, leading to dental issues like misalignment of teeth or changes in the roof of the mouth. Weaning off the pacifier at an appropriate age can help mitigate these concerns.

SPEECH DEVELOPMENT: Extended pacifier use might affect speech development, as it could interfere with the natural movements of the tongue and mouth essential for speech formation. Weaning can encourage proper oral muscle development for clearer speech.

DEPENDENCY: Babies can become overly reliant on the pacifier for comfort, making it challenging for them to self-soothe without it. Gradual weaning allows them to learn other ways to comfort themselves, fostering independence.

I cover these 3 primary reasons having a PLAN is most beneficial... for you AND your beautiful baby.

I respect that every child is different, but each child still grows through similar patterns.

The weaning process should be done gradually and gently, another reason to get in sync with your little one early on and build natural attunement.

Motherhood, for many, is an odyssey of self-discovery.

It's akin to stepping into uncharted territory, where the familiar ground gives way to a labyrinth of unknowns.

In this maze, one encounters moments that demand strengths lying dormant within—a resilience that emerges only when tested by the challenges of nurturing another life.

When Linda Wooten spoke of uncovering strengths, she delved into the heart of this transformative journey.

Motherhood becomes the catalyst for unraveling layers of oneself, revealing capabilities that remained concealed until the responsibilities of caring for a child emerged.

It's in facing fears that the true depth of these strengths is illuminated.

The fears, once unnoticed or unimaginable, suddenly loom large—a constant presence in a mother's mind.

Yet, in confronting these fears head-on, a mother taps into a wellspring of courage. It's a courage that isn't flamboyant or loud but rather steadfast, silently guiding her through the maze of uncertainties.

And as she navigates this uncharted path, she realizes that her growth isn't just personal but intrinsic to the essence of motherhood itself.

It's a metamorphosis—a journey from uncertainty to conviction, from apprehension to resilience.

This quote reflects the profound evolution that mothers undergo—a journey that shapes not only their relationship with their children, but also their own sense of self.

In the silent whispers of a toddler's heart, there's a prayer only a mother can understand.

Their innocent spirit speaks volumes, reaching out with love, trust, and unspoken dreams.

May we always have the ears to listen, the hearts to feel, and the arms to hold them close. 🙏💫

Through the laughter, the mischief, and the purest love, a toddler's heart sends out prayers that echo in our souls.

Let's cherish these unspoken moments, embracing the profound connection that transcends words. In their tiny whispers, we find the most heartfelt conversations. 💖
