TCCH had the pleasure of welcoming Tyler Wadsworth, Legislative Aide to Senator Erin Grall for Florida (Senate District 29), on August 5 at our Oslo location, also the future home of our Oslo Pediatric Center.

During the visit, we had the opportunity to share the vital role TCCH plays in our community, especially in providing healthcare to more than 9,000 children. Community Health Centers like TCCH are pillars of strength, compassion, and service. In times of hardship, we offer support and healing; in times of progress, we foster hope and a vision for a healthier future.

This year’s National Health Center Week, August 3 – 9, celebrates the power of connection between communities, health centers, and elected officials at every level.

TCCH is pleased to announce the appointment of Jose Zirena as the organization’s new CFO. Jose brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience, including two decades dedicated to Community Health Centers across Florida, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

A strong advocate for access to care, Jose’s passion for community health is deeply personal. As a young parent, he and his family received care from compassionate providers. That experience sparked a career-long commitment to community, ensuring others can access quality care, regardless of their circumstances.

“I’m excited to join TCCH and be part of a team that’s passionate about serving the community,” said Jose. “I believe in the power of working together and using our resources wisely to ensure more people have access to the care they need. I fell in love with the community health center world and that is a world I want to live in.”

TCCH depends on dedicated volunteers to serve on our board to provide insight, guidance, and governance. We couldn't do it without them, so join us in celebrating our new Governing Board of Directors!

"It’s been a decade of huge growth and opportunities, and I feel so lucky to have served alongside our board. The passion that we have comes through because everything we do comes from the heart. And I have to thank Mary for carrying on. Mary is going to do the most amazing job as the new Chair. I’m so excited. I have to tell you this has been a volunteer adventure of a lifetime. That I won’t soon forget!"
-Judi Miller, Immediate Past Chair (Judi will continue to serve on the board.)

"TCCH gave me purpose when I moved to Vero. I could see immediately how much they impacted Indian River County, so I was very pleased to step up to be chair of TCCH. My background is such that I've done a lot of strategic planning, so you learn to look at complex problems, break them down into smaller problems, solve them, and then put them together in hopes that you can make the solution move forward. We're entering a time where there's vast uncertainty, and I'm hoping that I can help anchor TCCH now and in the future."

Community Health Centers, like TCCH, are crucial to maintaining a healthy workforce. The proposed Medicaid funding changes would not only put the health of our community at risk, but also the livelihood of the workers providing our healthcare.

NBC News interviewed NACHC’s Chief Policy Officer Joe Dunn about the impact that proposed changes to Medicaid would have on the healthcare workforce, one of the few notably strong areas of the U.S. job market.

“Our health centers operate on razor-thin margins, so any kind of disruption in payments or reimbursements, even for a short time, can have a significant impact,” said Dunn. “About 40% of health centers are in rural America, and oftentimes they are the only primary care in that community. We have health centers in towns of a few hundred people, and there may not be any other kind of health care network there.”

As Medicaid funding hangs in the balance, the stakes are especially high for rural communities that rely on Community Health Centers as their only source of care.
