Our hearts are with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and the entire Vero Beach community as we mourn the tragic loss of Sgt. Terri Sweeting-Mashkow and hold close the two deputies who were also shot and injured during Friday’s eviction call.

This devastating event has shaken our community. Sgt. Mashkow’s courage, her 25 years of service, and her profound dedication will never be forgotten. We also stand with the deputies who are recovering and with every officer carrying the weight of this tragedy.
