It’s Bestie Boo day! 🎂🎉 Another year of having such an amazing friend. Silas asked me who I want when I’m sick the other day. I said, “Patrick.”

The first pic was taken just a few hours before the next two. I faceplanted on the sidewalk. He got me up, guided me back to his house, cleaned/iced/bandaged my wounds, medicated me, and tucked me into bed.

He’s learned about iron deficiency and blood disorders because he cares about me. He asks Chatgpt what I should eat to feel better.

He dug through Goodwill bins with me this year. We make the best charcuterie building team. I still get my best sleep at his house.

I think most of the world’s problems would be wiped out if everyone had a loving, caring, supportive, encouraging person like Patrick in their corner. Oh, and he’s brilliant, funny, and hot, too!

Happy birthday, Bestie Boo. I love you so much and I’m so glad you exist. I’m excited to see all the big moves and cool things you make happen in this next year around the sun. ❤️❤️❤️

Despite their dysfunction and challenges, my parents always tried to make birthdays special. Then I married someone who hated celebrations.

I was with him from ages 20 to 40. After an epic blowup because I wanted to throw myself a bowling party for my 30th, I sat out my birthdays - and any other opportunity to shine.

After my divorce, beautiful friends helped me reclaim my love for birthdays.

And this year I threw myself a whole day birthday party!

It started with early morning beach gazing, then fancy coffee and pastries, thrift shop hopping, olive oil & vinegar tasting, and finished with a leisurely lunch.

I wore a ballgown and encouraged everyone to wear what brought them joy. It was so cool hearing all the stories of why people chose their outfits and accessories.

It was the perfect day doing things I love with people who appreciate my u unique sparkle - just as I appreciate theirs!
