I just found these two clips on my phone from Sunday 😂😂😂. I had no idea I was recording. He said his listening ears were broken. I said we might have to take his new toy back so I had money to get a doctor to check out those ears! I’m an early childhood mental health consultant. I’m also a tired middle aged lady who works full time and spends most of her non-work hours trying to keep up with a Paw Patrol loving 4-year-old. Co-parenting a little one with my daughter was not on my life bingo card even five years ago, but I’m so grateful for every single moment I get to spend with him.

Let’s normalize:

1. Slow, gentle solo walks. This is still exercise. It’s still good for your body - and mind.

2. Reading just for fun and entertainment. Not everything needs to have deep meaning or teach you something.

3. Not letting anyone tell you audiobooks “aren’t really reading.” That’s an ableist belief. (Google it if you need proof. There are lots of studies validating audiobooks as reading.) And listen at whatever speed works for you. My brain pays attention better at a faster speed.

4. Not forcing yourself to keep going if a book doesn’t interest you. That’s a new thing for me in 2026. I’ve already ditched 3 books this month (including the one I was listening to on this walk!)

Binged two full series on Netflix while taking an alone Airbnb weekend. Both 8 episodes each. “Runaway” and “The Beast in Me.” Neither were high art, but both were very entertaining and enjoyable! Did you watch either? What are you watching?

I booked myself a last minute, solo two night stay at a local Airbnb. The hosts built an adorable loft over the barn. I learned very quickly that farm life is not for me! I met many horses, a few goats, a couple donkeys, and some cows, which was cool, but farm life is noisy and stinky. But I did get some good sleep and a short break from being responsible for someone else. Is a farm stay right up your alley?

I’m cleaning my closet and the newly turned 4-year-old made himself a pillow /blanket fort. I put on a Spotify recession pop play list. “Gaga! I can’t concentrate on my reading with that loud music!” Okay, boomer.
