We combined our ice cream party and summer hydration promotion at our Chill and Chat event on Friday. Seniors and professionals came together for a fun-filled day of mingling at this laid-back and enjoyable event. Guests had the opportunity to create their own sundaes from a variety of delicious ice cream flavors and toppings, and they drank, cool infused water, such as citrus rainwater and minty melon, to stay hydrated throughout the event. It was a perfect way to beat the heat. Our trivia challenge was a lively battle of wits, testing knowledge across history, pop culture, geography and more while we encouraged teamwork, conversation, and humor. They all had a great time! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

Our residents were visited every week in July by the children from the Helping Hands Program of South County. The seniors loved interacting with the children and getting to know them as they spent their time making bracelets, playing games, and arranging flowers. Our live-in dog, Justin, joined in the fun too. We are very grateful to these children and their mentors for taking time out of their summer break to visit us.

The remarkable woman's centennial was yesterday, July 24. Celebrating the life of Pat who had not only lived a century, but had also infused it with warmth, generosity, and purpose was an honor. The celebration went beyond a simple birthday. It was a celebration of life in all its splendor, including the quiet strength of a woman who had lived for a century and impacted everyone around her. Pat was presented with a certificate of distinction from the mayor's office and a letter from the chairman of the Brookdale Senior Living board. Sincere gratitude is extended to JustMe2 for providing delightful entertainment that transported seniors back in time. Pat concluded her special day with a Zoom chat to her family members who were unable to attend her party in person. Happy birthday, Pat! We love you.

We received a surprise visit from our VNA friends. Our smiles widened as we sat down to savor the delicious goodies. The ice creams were a welcome delight on a hot, sunny day. Amy and Jessica, thank you for the unexpected cool treats.
