Debra Keathley is a licensed massage therapist (LMT) in the State of Florida and has been NCBTMB certified since 2005. Debra's first introduction with the Bowen Technique was through her own personal experience in 1999 with Dr. Joanne Whitaker. Two car accidents and four years of conventional and alternative therapies had left Debra struggling with multiple soft tissue injuries, neck immobility an
d debilitating pain. She was familiar with Dr. Joanne Whitaker as they were neighbors 20 years earlier and after hearing about Dr. Whitaker's success with a new bodywork was encouraged to try it. After her first Bowen visit Debra's neck regained total range of motion and many other areas started to improve. Pain vanished over the next five visits! Needless to say...it changed her life! Debra began taking classes with Dr. Joanne Whitaker at the Bowen Research and Training Institute simply to understand this amazing bodywork. As a lifelong horse woman, Debra was also eager to study equine Bowen and how the therapy could be applied and utilized in the equine industry. Dr. Whitaker became her mentor and she attended classes over the next six years to hone her skills and learn all she could from Dr. Whitaker and her many students and colleagues. In 2006 Debra became a Level II Animal Bowen Practitioner having studied with Lynn Peck, DVM and attaining certification from Carol Bennett. She has continued her studies with Bowen Bridge classes taught by Gene Dobkin. Debra's interest in learning the technique that had helped her so greatly, inadvertently lead to a passion to share this wonderful bodywork with others. The rest, as they say, is history! Debra's, now full-time, Bowen practice is divided between her human and animal clients as well as teaching the Bowen Technique to the general public as well as providing continuing education to massage therapists both as a NCBTMB and State of Florida provider. Debra has held INTRODUCTION TO BOWEN classes at massage schools and has been invited to the Professional in Residence Program at the Hanley Center in West Palm Beach where Bowen is being considered in the rehab field. Debra is truly continuing Dr. Whitaker's vision to: "Have Bowen on every corner- available to All." -Dr. Joanne Whitaker
