Hometown Pharmacy

Hometown Pharmacy Hometown Pharmacy is committed to providing an alternative to “big box” pharmacy and nowhere is that The success of Hometown Pharmacy has proven them right.

After Walgreen’s bought out the independent pharmacy in Verona and opened its new store on the corner, the owners of Hometown Pharmacy decided to reopen a store just a block away from one of the country’s biggest chains. They felt that Verona, with its strong tradition of family pharmacy, would support a smaller, more responsive local pharmacy. Hometown Pharmacy opened its doors in September of 2004, just two months after Walgreen’s, and enjoyed the immediate and vocal support of a great many Verona residents. Starting from scratch, Hometown Pharmacy has built a successful business by emphasizing a more personal approach to pharmacy and has been rewarded with the loyalty of the finest customers a pharmacy could ask for! These customers represent a cross section of Verona but they share one strong, common bond—they choose to support smaller, local stores over big chains. You will find them at the local grocery store, carpet showroom, and hardware store and we are grateful to call them our customers and our friends. Hometown Pharmacy may be new, but it has a link to the past in long-time resident and pharmacy manager Gary Bongey. Gary’s father, Donald Bongey, opened the first pharmacy in Verona in 1958. Gary has spent virtually all of his 25 years in pharmacy serving the residents of Verona and is very proud of the fact that many of the same customers who supported his father’s store in 1958 have joined him in his new home at Hometown Pharmacy. Hometown Pharmacy feels strongly that a pharmacy works when it is a fully integrated part of the community it serves. Continuing this tradition, Hometown Pharmacy is proud to support the Verona community through donations to the Verona Area Community Theater, the Verona High School student newspaper and yearbook, the Verona High School athletic department and various fundraising events for the elementary, middle and high school. Hometown Pharmacy has also leant its support to local groups like the Boy Scouts, service organizations like the Optimists Club and to area churches. Hometown Pharmacy is involved with the business community in Verona through its membership in the Chamber of Commerce and by utilizing local companies for services whenever possible. At Hometown Pharmacy, our door is always open to the community and we are eager to lend our support to programs that enhance the health and well-being of the good people who have made this business possible. Hometown Pharmacy has a vision for the future of pharmacy that brings many elements of community health care together under one roof. Already Hometown Pharmacy provides osteoporosis screenings, influenza immunization clinics, prescription delivery, blood pressure checks, skin analysis and skin consultations, free Medicare Part D assistance, and a medication review program designed to lower annual drug costs with a money back guarantee. The future will bring an array of new clinical services to Hometown Pharmacy—stay posted! The world is full of people who will tell you why they can’t do something for you. Sometimes they apologize, sometimes they give you another phone number to call, but in the end you walk away with nothing but frustration. At Hometown Pharmacy, we pride ourselves on being “can do” people. We can take the time to answer your questions. We can help you solve your insurance problems. We can sit down with you and help you find the Medicare D plan that best fits not our needs, but yours. We can greet you with a smile every time you’re kind enough to walk through our doors; because you are the reason those doors are open. We can take the time to really listen to your concerns, because sometimes that’s the very best medicine of all. Come in to Hometown Pharmacy and experience pharmacy the way it used to be; before it got stuffed into a “big box.” We think you’ll like the difference.

Verona Hometown Pharmacy

Hi I'm Gary Bongey. I went to Verona High school and graduated Pharmacy school from UW-Madison. Pharmacy has been in my family for years. My dad was an RPH and my sister is an RPH. I love to read. I have a son, Nathan and a rescue dog, Marcus. Hometown pharmacy has the best customers in the world and I am happy to be a part of the Hometown Pharmacy family.
