A major winter storm will impact communities across the U.S. this weekend, bringing with it freezing temperature and unpredictable weather. Leading up to the storm, Safe Kids will be sharing tips to ensure families stay safe! As you prepare for the cold weather and potential power outages, it's important to remember that heaters and portable generators can help families stay warm but can also increase the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Protect your family with these tips:

🚨 Install CO alarms on every level of your home, especially around sleeping areas.

⏰ Test CO alarms every month.

🏠 Avoid using your oven or stovetop to heat your home.

🚗 Warm up vehicles outside of your garage.

❄️ Check the vents outside your home or the dryer, furnace, stove and fireplace to make sure they are clear of snow and other debris.

Evenflo Company, Inc. (Evenflo) is recalling certain All4One child seats.

Please refer to Evenflo's recall report for specific model numbers. In rear-facing mode, the adjustable recline mechanism may shift out of proper position. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems." A child seat that does not maintain proper recline position may not adequately secure a child in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, should another passenger put their hand in the recline mechanism when it shifts out of position, their risk of injury is increased.

⚠ Evenflo will replace the child seat, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning January 26, 2026. Owners may contact Evenflo customer service at 1-800-233-5921.

We all play a role in slowing the spread of flu.

If you’re feeling feverish, achy, coughing, or run down, staying home can help prevent others from getting sick—especially those most at risk.

Rest isn’t just self-care. It’s community care.

Additional steps to help protect yourself and others:
• Practice good hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Cover coughs and sneezes: Use a tissue or your elbow, not your hands.
• Avoid close contact with sick individuals: If you are ill, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever subsides.
• Limit face-touching: Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth to reduce self-inoculation and the spread of germs.
• Clean surfaces: To reduce influenza risk, consistently clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces which could be contaminated with flu viruses.

If your area experiences heavy snow, stay & avoid driving, if possible. Roads can become dangerous, but if you must drive – first, be sure you have created an emergency kit for your car.

Include items such as:
✔️ Jumper cables
✔️ Phone charger
✔️ Blankets
✔️ Water
✔️ A map

Once ready to drive, be sure to slow down, stay alert, and leave space between vehicles.
