During Women’s History Month, we pause to honor the women who have served our country with courage, strength, and sacrifice. Women veterans have answered the call in times of war and peace, often carrying great responsibility with quiet determination and deep love for the people around them.

This month, we remember and thank the women in our community whose service helped protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. If you are a woman veteran, or if you have a woman veteran in your family, we also want you to know that there may be veterans death benefits available. We would be honored to help answer your questions and provide guidance. Feel free to reach out to us anytime. If you’d like, you can also share the name or branch of service of a woman veteran you love in the comments so we can honor her with you. 🇺🇸

Preplanning is one of the simplest ways to give your family peace of mind in the future.

At Blackburn & Ward, we know these conversations are not always easy to start, but making plans ahead of time can bring real relief to the people you love most. Preplanning helps reduce stress, answers important questions in advance, and makes arrangements much easier whenever the time comes.

For some families, that means putting every detail in place. For others, it simply means having a conversation and looking at the options. Either way, preplanning is about giving you information, guidance, and the opportunity to make decisions on your own terms. And just as importantly, there is no pressure—you can preplan if and when it feels right for you.

If you have ever wondered what the process looks like, Blackburn & Ward is here to help you explore your options in a comfortable, caring way. Give us a call at (859) 873-4991.

Today, on National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the men and women who serve families with compassion, patience, and quiet strength.

Behind every service is a great deal of care that often goes unseen — listening to stories, helping families make difficult decisions, honoring lives with dignity, and walking with people through some of their hardest days. We are grateful for the opportunity to do this work in the Versailles community and to help families remember, honor, and celebrate the lives of those they love.

Today, we say thank you to funeral directors and mortuary professionals everywhere who serve with such dedication and heart.
