At Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, caring for a family has never simply meant helping with the day of the service.

It means being present before, during, and after.

After the funeral, many families find that grief becomes quieter, but not easier. The visits slow down. The phone calls become fewer. Life around you begins to move forward, even while your heart is still trying to catch up.

That is where aftercare becomes so important.

Whether you need grief resources, help understanding next steps, assistance with memorial decisions, or simply a compassionate place to turn, we want you to know that we are still here.

Our care does not end when the service is over. It continues in the days, weeks, and months that follow.

It is our privilege to serve Versailles, Woodford County, and the families who trust us during some of life’s most difficult moments.

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

And honestly, after more than a century of serving families, we’ve probably heard just about everything.

Have you ever wondered what actually happens when a family calls a funeral home? What the difference is between burial and cremation options? How preplanning works? What veterans benefits may be available? Or why funeral directors always seem to own at least one dark suit?

Now is your chance to ask.

Leave your question in the comments or send us a private message. In a few days, we’ll share a follow-up post answering some of the questions we receive.

No question is too simple. No question is too awkward. And chances are, somebody else has wondered the same thing.

At Blackburn & Ward, we’re here to help our community feel informed, comfortable, and cared for.

As Mother’s Day and Decoration season approach, many families will soon be making their way to the cemetery to place flowers and spend a few quiet moments remembering the ones they love. It is a meaningful tradition — one that keeps memories close and honors lives that still matter deeply.

At Blackburn & Ward, we are honored to offer stone cleaning services as another way to help families care for the graves of their loved ones. A cleaned and restored monument can be a beautiful expression of love, remembrance, and continued devotion. With the warmer weather here, this is a good time to schedule stone cleaning and help your family’s monument look its best for the season. If we can help, please let us know.

At Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, we know preplanning is not something most people put on their to-do list. But we have also seen how much comfort it can bring when families have a plan in place.

It gives you the chance to slow down, think through your wishes, and make decisions without the weight of a difficult day pressing in. And it does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with nothing more than a few questions and a simple conversation.

Whenever the time feels right, we are here to sit down with you and help.
